Unfortunately we did not have the experience planned here and due to the service we did not order food. The waiters provide a QR code for the menu where you have to use your phones. The menu page kept freezing when we tried to change languages to view our options.
Their solution was to give us their personal phones to use as they have no paper menus. Every time we changed the language to English, once we tried to view a different section I.e. mains, it reverted back to Italian and was very slow to change back.
We tried to explain the issue to the staff who were becoming quite impatient with us, there was no offer to read options out to us or explain the menu verbally. At one stage as I was trying to view the menu the waiter came behind me, leant over and took the phone straight out of my hand to give to another customer with no apology or warning.
At that point we decided the experience had been ruined enough that we did not feel comfortable eating there. We explained this to the staff who provided no apology and simply said their phones always work, insinuating it was our issue.
It was such a shame as the location and views are beautiful, I'd purposefully booked at sunset and the food does look lovely from their social media page. A small effort to make and provide a hard copy menu and more polite staff would have completely changed the experience for us. We had to pay 23 euros for 2 small glasses of wine and a...
Read moreYou’ve heard of speakeasy bars — but a speakeasy restaurant? La Finestrella is exactly that. Tucked away behind a hidden door, this place is as much an experience as it is a meal. It’s not easy to find (hint: walk down the stairs until you reach the archway, then look to your right — there’s a locked door, and if you can keep a secret, you’ll figure out how to open it 😉).
Once inside, you're rewarded with breathtaking views, an inviting atmosphere, and food that is absolutely out of this world. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The staff are not only friendly, but genuinely fun — you can tell they love what they do.
Reservations are required. Make sure you ask for first row seating to ensure the best view of the marina below.
Prices are more than reasonable for the quality and the experience. La Finestrella is a rare find — the kind of place you almost don’t want to share, but it’s too good to keep to yourself.
I do have a negative comment to make though as it is a major pet peeve of mine. We are in Italy, do not ask me for a tip, service fee, or anything similar. We are not in the tip everyone for anything United States. Ugh, you almost ruined a truly impressive night with that question when we were...
Read moreNot a very warm reception. The view is gorgeous, as with most places in this area. We were seated at the experience table, which was a bit awkward with windows opening inwards. The music was intense. Like an orchestra for a cinematic movie. The menu was a digital one. This felt a little fast food. I prefer a hard copy personally. The food was gourmet (I.e. small, fancy presentation, and not cheap). It was good but not great. We started over hearing a conversation with some patrons who had just arrived about them wanting a table with a view. The waiter eventually weakened and gave them one that apparently was reserved. Then another couple arrived and were clearly annoyed that they didn't get a table with a view. After this, the manager started getting into the waiters ear. Soon after, we were asked to order more drinks or move along. This was before we finished the drinks we had purchased. Overall, not the...
