FiCo Restaurant — Restaurant in Syracuse

First of all, the food was very delicious BUT the service was totally unacceptable.

We received a greeting from the kitchen therefore we asked the waiter what it is and he said he doesn’t know, it was just given to him. We still don’t know what we ate because he didn’t ask his colleagues afterwards. Furthermore the waiter didn’t give us a wine cooler to keep the wine in the right temperature - all other tables had a wine cooler… After we finished our pasta, he asked us if we would like to have some desserts and I was like: sorry but we ordered a grilled octopus, maybe after that.

There were also some further dislikes we noticed such as literally throwing forks on the table instead of placing them next to the plate or asking if everything is fine.

One of the best meals we had on our two week trip to Italy… so good we came back for a second dinner at Fico! A hidden gem.

Lovely setting just off the main plaza, nice and peaceful with beautiful lighting and atmosphere. The hosts were really friendly and suggested wine for each of us that paired well with our food choices. They even gave me some mosquito spray if I needed…

The food is also outstanding. We highly recommend the pasta dishes, particular the Casarecce alla Norma and the Ravioli Ragu - great portion size too compared to other restaurants. The pistachio cheesecake is also a must try - not your typical cheesecake but we’ll let you try it and not spoil the surprise. Delicious.

It might sound exaggerated to say this was the best dinner of my life. Yet when I really think about it, FiCo Restaurant had it all. The setting is quiet and just within reach of the live music and summer crowds just off the piazza. The servers were attentive and kind. The food tastes as good as it looks. The parmigiana had the most delicate eggplant I’ve ever tasted. The pasta alla siracusana brought a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The desserts taught me how subtle a sweet ricotta could be. Every bite brought me to a dream. So yes - it was the best dinner of my life. I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a dinner like what FiCo Restaurant has to offer at least once in...
