Ristorante L' Ancora Da Giancarlo — Restaurant in Syracuse

Recommended by my air b&b. I was suuuupeer disappointed! Whole restaurant was empty I was first customer yet I was put inside where it was hot and zero atmosphere/ almost felt awkward. Waiter made zero effort no conversation just passed me the menu as soon as he realised I was not a local. No explanation about fish or the day or specials I was just left. Food came I had the clam/ shrimp/ pistachio pasta and the shrimps were tiny/ limited fish. Pasta wasn’t cooked so well and not much sauce/ just coated in oil. They put on sports on the tv and it was just men talking over it.

Unless you’re a local I wouldn’t go as you literally are left in the corner with average food. Worst dinner of my trip...

It’s a real shame that the food at this place turned out to be so average, but I wouldn’t have given a low rating had the problems stopped there yesterday.

We ordered the mixed antipasti, which included razor clams, raw shrimps and other raw seafood and the raw shrimps tasted rancid.

When I brought this up to them, they said that there is nothing wrong with the freshness and that the marinade is the problem.

Turns out, they were rancid indeed. After an absolutely hellish night for every member of our group that tasted the shrimps, I have no choice but to give a one star rating. Most of the other dishes weren’t too...

We decided to have lunch at this restaurant and we were sadly very disappointed by both the serving and the food. The waiters found difficulty in remembering to bring our entire order, mistaking the amount of dishes we asked for and only bringing the side dishes and the starters at the end of our meal. The mix of grilled fish was horrendous and barely edible. The fresh dorado was alright. On top of everything, I must say that the prices are extremely exaggerated for the poor service. I wouldn't...
