After walking the Corso Umberto for hours we were more than ready to eat. However, I can’t eat flour, so no pizza, pasta or even bread. Every restaurant menu looked the same until I saw “Family Food” and literally ran across the street. The owner and his wife make the food. There I found chickens roasting on the rotisserie, skin crispy and so delicious with a ladle of olive oil and lemon! Potatoes cut into wedges and BAKED, not fried. Fresh cooked spinach. The food was so good we bought those yummy rice balls to have tomorrow for lunch. I should say that Family Food also has homemade lasagne, eggplant Parmesan, personal size pizza, salads and much more. Get this - a half-chicken AND those yummy patate was only 7 euros! Where else would you find that in Taormina? No where. Tell them Laurie from California sent you....

Our family ordered the roasted chicken with potatoes (pollo con patate), lasagna, pasta al forno (my dish - pasta with egg, meat sauce, eggplant, cheese - yum), and I asked for a spaghetti con pomododoro for my daughter which she gladly prepared in the kitchen. It came out quickly and we ate at their hightop tables inside. They make and prepare everything and have more that is not already ready or on display. Prices were very reasonable too - we paid around €26 for our four dishes and drinks. Lovely...
Read moreI gave this place 5 stars across the board because the food is amazing and the owners work so hard. We stayed across the street and ate here 4 times during our stay in Taormina. The location is small with a few tables inside and out, on a busy street so the atmosphere isn't quite the best, but the food made up for it. I even made a request of pumpkin ravioli, and he made it for us the next day. The prices are unbeatable especially for a place like Taormina.
