Liola Osteria and Bar — Restaurant in Taormina

I went to this place because of the many excellent reviews and despite some very negative ones because I wanted to check the place myself. It is a rather smallish but bright and nevertheless cozy place obviously run by a family. The reception was very warm and friendly. Although we hadn't made a reservation we were given a table in the corner with lots of comfy cushions. Ordering was fast and efficient as was the preparation of our food. I found the food extremely delicious and the prices were reasonable for Taormina. Coperto 2,50,wine 7€ for a calice, 10-13 € for non-fancy dishes. Had some nice chats with the owner and his wife who are really warmhearted. When we ordered the bill, they offered us a drink as present from the house. However when we got the bill I remembered some reviews that talked about overcharging and checked all items carefully. It turned out that the wife who was responsible for the bill made several errors that would have cost me 15 €. I objected and they apologised in a typical Italian way with lots of words and gestures. I still think that the wife didn't want to cheat, but rather made some involuntary mistakes because it was the husband who had taken the order. I was offered another drink together with many apologies. My advice: If you go there, enjoy the tasty food and double check your bill. Because of the erroneous bill I give only 4 stars instead of 5. It definitely pays off to speak at least some...

Italiano: Il mio ristorante preferito! Non vado da nessun'altra parte a Taormina. Lo staff è super gentile, amichevole, disponibile, alla mano, sempre pronti a soddisfare tutti i desideri del cliente dal più semplice al più peculiare. Il menù è golosissimo, la qualità supera l'immaginazione, l'accoglienza e le coccole dello staff per i clienti (dal più grande al più piccolo) farebbero invidia a molti. L'ambiente è molto elegante, accogliente e molto confortevole.

Chi va a Taormina, anche solo per una giornata deve assolutamente andare al Liolà. Che sia pranzo, cena o aperitivo. Provare per credere! Il vostro palato vi ringrazierà! Un trionfo di sapori tipici siciliani che vi ammalierà per sempre!

English (UK): My favourite restaurant! I don't go anywhere else in Taormina. The staff is super friendly, helpful, approachable, always ready to satisfy all the customer's wishes from the simplest to the most peculiar. The menu is mouth-watering, the quality exceeds the imagination, and the staff's welcome and pampering of customers (from the eldest to the youngest) would make many envious. The ambience is very elegant, cosy and very comfortable.

Anyone who goes to Taormina, even if only for a day, absolutely must go to Liolà. Be it lunch, dinner or aperitif. Try it to believe! Your palate will thank you! A triumph of typical Sicilian flavours that will enchant you forever!

Das Personal ist super freundlich, hilfsbereit, zuvorkommend, immer bereit, alle Kundenwünsche zu erfüllen, von den einfachsten bis zu den ausgefallensten. Die Speisekarte ist köstlich, die Qualität übersteigt die Vorstellungskraft, und die Begrüßung und Verwöhnung der Kunden (vom Ältesten bis zum Jüngsten) durch das Personal würde viele neidisch machen. Das Ambiente ist sehr elegant, gemütlich und sehr komfortabel.

Wer nach Taormina kommt, und sei es nur für einen Tag, sollte unbedingt ins Liolà gehen. Sei es zum Mittagessen, zum Abendessen oder zum Aperitif. Probieren Sie es aus, um es zu glauben! Nestled in the heart of Taormina, Liola Osteria and Bar is a gem that perfectly blends Sicilian charm with warm hospitality. I had the pleasure of dining there one afternoon, seated at a table overlooking the lively square, where the vibrant energy of the town created the perfect backdrop for a leisurely meal.

The highlight was undoubtedly the beef steak in sauce, cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with crispy roast potatoes.
