Something really important to note about this restaurant that might be misleading to most people is its location. It is located right at the bus stop right in the center of the traffic and start of pedestrian area, which might make you think that is not the best option to sit in. However, I dare you try it because this place was a really hidden gem and a really nice surprise. We went on a late afternoon for a light late lunch and I must sell you. We were really surprised. We had the mussels with wine and pepper and I will tell you these were the best mussels I have tried in any restaurant in the world. We also do try the mixed bruschetta which was to my surprise. Very delicious. Very home style flavor. We also had the seafood salad which I personally will not recommend as they are mainly steamed seafood which I personally dislike but some people do like that so if you like steamed stuff you will probably like it The place seems to be run by two men who are the cook and the waiter and I think that this created a lovely charm of the place. Also, the interior is very provincial which brings that a little extra local flavor to the atmosphere To be honest leaving this place, I felt sorry that I did not get to try the whole menu but will surely check it out...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant with expectations for good local food. The atmosphere looks very welcoming, a lot of locals were there and it looked like we were going to have a really nice meal. The good thing about the whole experience was that the atmosphere was nice. We waited a lot for our food, something like 40 minutes and quite a few other local customers who sat after us were served before. In general locals were served differently and better than us which is not nice and there shouldn't be double standards about that. The food was disappointing. The pasta was not aldente but super soft and not tasty. The swordfish had no seasoning (it was from frozen fillet which had no taste on itself) and it felt undercooked. The fish and the sides were served on top of a bland chunky salad. The prices are also high for what we've got and the taste is just unacceptable for such a culinary destination like Sicily. We also waited another 20 minutes after we asked for the bill. The servant was nice, but he couldn't be attentive as he had to serve all the tables alone inside and outside. We definitely don't...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant because of the overall good review. The restaurant was giving an authentic, homey vibe, and the servers were polite. But those are the only good things about this place. First of all, the bread was old. We ordered octopus salad and shrimp penne for the first course. Octopus was tough & could be seasoned better. The penne was bland & shrimps looked sad :( For the next course we ordered mussels spaghetti, grilled squid, and oven baked potatoes. The spaghetti itself was very salty and the mussels were so soft, they were definitely not fresh. The grilled squid was tasteless. The allegedly "oven baked" potatoes were mushy as if they were reheated in a microwave. We told the server what we thought about the food and he politely said, "Mussels are from the sea. When they are cooked, the salt comes out so the pasta is salty." Very nice story telling if he was talking to someone who has never had a seafood pasta in their life. In short, this is just another...
