I don’t normally leave reviews, but this was so disappointing of a meal for my friends & I that I felt compelled. I’m not sure if it was because we are tourists but it took ages for the staff to take our order, we had to ask 4 separate times. The appetizers were a travesty - the caprese salad was completely devoid of any flavor (there was no olive oil or vinegar it was just unseasoned tomato and mozzarella), and then the bruschetta for some reason had no tomatoes, but some kind of pistachio chutney and cooked mixed vegetables. While the dishes looked beautiful, the quality of seafood we were served was a disaster. The pulpo was very rubbery and did not taste fresh. It was also weirdly sweet. My friend ordered the lobster linguine (supposedly the best dish in the house), and the color of the lobster was pale, it was clearly not fresh. The taste was unpleasant bordering inedible, and we had to send the dish back. The truffle linguine with shrimp (one of the other specials) was quite good, so at least there was one good dish. They only deducted €10 from the bill for the lobster, when any decent restaurant would not charge for an inedible dish at all. We ended up paying €150 and barely ate anything. Just overall a really negative experience….. have had better Italian food in small-town Germany. Don’t know if it was just a ‘bad day’ or if this is their normal standard. Also, I woke up with horrible stomach issues today. Wouldn’t be shocked if it was the old seafood. Do...
Read moreWe wanted to like this place but it was a very bad experience. We first sat by the window overlooking the property next door and started noticing a very bad chemical smell (We moved).
We had been having pasta for a few days so I decided to have the seabass with sicilian sauce - no price on it - I assumed it was by weight. . My husband received his pasta. Five minutes later the waiter came and showed me a whole cooked fish on a platter that was around 15 inches long - which I thought was a bit too big for a one person order. The waiter disappeared with my fish . By this time, my husband had decided he didn't like his pasta and we were just sitting there waiting and picking at the pasta. After over 20 minutes, the waiter came back with a plate of boneless whie fish pieces sitting on tomato sauce with olives. There was one piece 6 inches long and two other two inch strips The entire dish, fish and sauce was room temperature at best - of course it would be cold because it had been over twenty minutes since it was cooked! I wondered whether they gave me only half of the fish, but when the bill came, we were charged 58 euros for these cold pieces of fish portions with cold sauce and no other accompaniments. And I had a bad stomach...
Read moreWe had a cooking class with Giovanni (the head chef and owner) at another restaurant and wanted to dine at his second location.
Right when you walk in you are greeted by a beautiful hostess and a bright, fresh and lively environment. The waiters were all very nice and helpful with the food and wine options. The way the staff communicated with each other was sweet to see, you could tell they loved and respected their team and workplace.
The food... Honestly.. AMAZING! Everything was delicious. One of my best dining experiences I have ever had.
For a starter I ordered the octopus with saffron Mash potatos - ridiculously good. The octopus was perfectly cooked and full of flavour.
For main I ordered the pasta with Ragu. Again, absolutely delicious. Fresh and the flavour combination of lamb, hazelnut and candied orange was great.
For desert I ordered the cannolo. It arrived in a deconstructed way and was amazing.
There is nothing negative to say. You can tell there is passion, love and happiness within the staff and owner. Giovanni, it was an absolute pleasure to cook and dine with you.
I will recommend ristorante Pirandello 2.0 to anyone and everyone. A really fantastic...
