Restaurant Rosso Peperoncino — Restaurant in Taormina

Had dinner here twice during our stay. The garden setting is beautiful, this family run business has some really tasty food. Six of traveling together allowed us to try several dishes - shrimp cocktail was excellent, aubergine parmesan fantastic, the lasagna was delicious, the pasta with anchovies very good, swordfish was great and a couple in the group raved about the sea bass (nice crust and moist inside). Spaghetti with anchovies was amazing. The service was really friendly and attentive. Nice selection of Sicilian wines. I am sorry but if the location Is really nice, food is a real disappointment! Gnocchi are the worst quality on the market. ( They Aren't fresh made, but the same you can buy in a low-budget supermarket, unluckily I used to eat It and I know the difference with real gnocchi!!), had the gorgonzola sauce really some gorgonzola in It?? As an Italian I must admit I'll never read and trust again food reviews coming from foreigner people writing enthusiastically about everything "some Italians" offer them in a dish. Taormina needs to rename its self tourist - restaurants are expensive as this is the most busy touristy place in Sicily - while the food was fine and the location quiet and enjoyable it was very expensive ….in saying that I think to be fair everywhere in Taormina is expensive

We had light lunch - I course meal which were all good - but no wine or alcohol and the bill was almost 100 Euro’s - there was 3 of us

In Catania 2 or 3 course meals were costing for 1 person about 20 Euros so I feel if your staying here in Taormina you know it’s super expensive and thus resturant is not alone in charging like this
