Palio di Taranto — Restaurant in Taranto

One of the worst restoraunt. The waiters speak almost no English. Each of us ordered two different dishes. In the end they brought me only one dish out of two and it was not tasty. The plate had 2 mussels, 2 shrimp, and 2 small octopus tails. The pasta was so hard that I couldn't even cut it with a knife, the pasta sauce was very strange and primitive, the shrimp was hard and the skin couldn't be peeled properly. To fix the situation, the owner of the restaurant (speaks English) offered me ravioli with mozzarella, but in fact, they brought me ravioli with ricotta cheese and besides the portion consisted of 8 pieces (really small portion) of ravioli. I know the difference of ricotta cheese and mozzarella very well. Also, my husband ordered 1 serving of grilled seafood. In fact, they brought him the octopus gurned in flour and deep fried, not grilled! They brought one portion divided into two plates, but they counted this dish as for two portions + inflated the price tag. In the menu one portion cost 16 euros, we were counted at 20 euros each. Wine we ordered 300 grams, in a jug, while the waitress herself offered this option, but in fact they brought a bottle. As a result we got 2 wrong dishes and 1 badly cooked dish. So for dinner we paid 95 euros, we overpaid 24 euros (because we've been deliberately communalized), this money such a dinner and service was not worth it. I do not advise foreigners to go there, especially those who appreciate the service and love...

Un locale da dimenticare. Si salva unicamente per la posizione che effettivamente è invidiabile (ho messo due stelle perché purtroppo, nonostante la prenotazione, non sono stata degna di essere a bordo mare). Partiamo dal fatto che sono arrivata a Taranto dopo 120 km di camminata in solitaria da Polignano a Mare. Unica cosa che desideravo, finendo il cammino nel mercato ittico di Taranto, era farmi una scorpacciata di buon pesce. Vista la posizione e la mia volontà di coccolarmi un po', prenoto "Al Palio". Mai decisione fu peggiore: a. arrivo e, nonostante avessi prenotato, mi viene appioppato il tavolo più brutto della terrazza, ovviamente non vista mare (purtroppo, quando ci si muove da soli, spesso è il trattamento che si riceve... giusto per rincarare la dose); b. apparecchiano il tavolo sul momento e tentano di farlo con una tovaglia di tessuto-non-tessuto tutta stropicciata (probabilmente già usata). A questo mi ribello e vengo onorata di poter mangiare su una tovaglia nuova; c. arriva il vino, ma non l'acqua che mi trovo costretta a richiedere; d. arriva il pane solo perché l'ho chiesto. Tutti gli altri tavoli lo hanno; d. arriva l'impepata di cozze: TENDENTE AL FREDDO. A Trieste da dove vengo questo piatto si chiama "scota deo" perché, caspita, ste dita te le devi scottare dentro il brodetto delle cozze. Le mando indietro e tornano di forse 1°C più alto. Vabbè, mangiabili e ho smesso di lamentarmi nel merito; e. vado alla cassa e mi dice "31,51, ma facciamo 31". Tutta meravigliata per il fatto di non aver mai sentito girare cifre così puntigliose nei ristoranti, mi informo del perché 0,01 cent. Era sata sbagliata l'impostazione della cassa: il servizio era impostato a 0,01 cent. Di tutto conto, la signorina, che ricordiamo che era da tutta la sera che stava battendo servizi da 0,01 cent senza farsi venire alcun dubbio, mi dice "sono 32,50". E a quel punto dico "ma come?? Per cortesia vi segnalo un errore e va a finire che ci rimetto pure?!". "Va bene dai, 32" la risposta. Potete immaginare che diavolo per capello avessi. Le giuste strategie per accontentare la gentile clientela insomma...

The place is really amazing and it's not necessary much to make it the best bar ever. However, the service is just terrible. When I arrived, there where only 2 tables that were occupied and I was told that all the others by the sea were booked. It took a very long time until someone made me the honour of serving me and indicating me the menu. The starter I ordered was very good although overpriced. Aperol spritz was ok. Nobody ever came again to ask me if I wanted anything else or offer me another drink. All the attention was to a very specific table. If I had known that speaking English had such a good impact, I would have spoken English...
