illy — Restaurant in Trieste

This is a typical example of an overrated tourist trap. We sat down and waited for the service at least for 10minutes meanwhile the place was literally empty and no-one was waiting for order inside with THREE waiters attending the clients. When we finally ordered 2 Viennese coffee and one apple strudle, we waited over 10 minutes again to serve us. When they arrived, they only brought us 1 coffee without saying sorry for their mistake, so another long minutes to wait for the 2nd coffee to arrive. The Viennese coffee all over in Central Europe is served in a bigger cup, not a regular coffee cup, like they did serve it here. Finally, in a country so famous about its hospitality traditions, we were the only ones at the coffee house who got their coffee without a glass of water. It took ages to even sign this issue that we finally just paid and left pretty bitterly. Over all, a slice of strudel is at 6 €, a Viennese is at 4.5 €, rounding our bill up for 15 €. Ridiculous price! Please avoid this place, it's a shameful overcharging trap framing the brand Illy. I only give 1 star cause I can not...

Da Illy ci si aspetta di più, molto di più: Pochi tavoli fuori e qui pochi liberi con la scritta "prenotato". Chiediamo per che ora fosse prenotato e ci viene risposto per le 17.00, ossia oltre un ora dopo dal nostro arrivo al locale (erano le 15.40). Chiediamo se fosse possibile comunque sedersi giusto il tempo di un caffè (10/15 minuti). No categorico.

Tralascio l'ineducazione e la scortesia con la quale si è rapportata con noi la persona che gestiva i tavoli esterni e voglio giustificarla capendo che lavorare in un bar, con così tanta gente, in un luogo di passaggio così affollato dove ogni due secondi c'è qualcuno che ti ferma per chiederti qualcosa, possa essere stressante; ma chi lavora dovrebbe comunque ricordarsi che durante l'orario di lavoro rappresenta l'azienda e atteggiamenti scontrosi e maleducati si riflettono immancabilmente sul marchio e non già da chi ha perpetrato la scortesia.

Aspettiamo comunque che si liberi un tavolo e ci accomodiamo. Probabilmente il "No categorico" era giustificato da parte del personale dalla consapevolezza del loro servizio estremamente lento. Due caffè e due cioccolate calde ci arrivano dopo almeno 15 minuti. Immaginando l'importanza che Illy da al senso del gusto, mi aspettavo che, come da regola, il caffè venga servito accompagnato da un bicchiere d'acqua (non del rubinetto) per far si che il cliente possa "pulirsi la bocca" per meglio assaporare l'aroma del prodotto. Invece no... a quanto pare un goccio d'acqua va esplicitamente richiesto. Le cioccolate? decenti; però anche qui sarebbe stato corretto, decoroso, educato che le stesse fossero accompagnate da un paio di biscottini. Due, non di più.... no, neanche quelli.

Un servizio così disattento, approssimativo e superficiale me lo aspetto in un bar "amatoriale". Non me lo aspetto, e non lo accetto, da chi fa dell'etica "del bello e del buono" la sua missione. Non me lo aspetto da chi, legittimamente, chiede 2,30€ per un espresso e 5€ per una cioccolata calda e che sono ben disposto a pagare e ripagare se il servizio fosse all'altezza anziché alla carlona.

Se già, aperto da poco, quindi nel periodo di massima attenzione quando ci si presenta alla città come nuova alternativa, come nuova istituzione, le premesse sono queste .... voglio evitare di pensare a che piega di lassismo e superficialità possa arrivare quel...
