Caffe Tommaseo mistakenly allowed reservations when they had been booked for a private party. We had the chance to simply try the following evening. Service is very attentive. Seafood appetizers, and all dishes, were plated beautifully. Ravioli was cooked too a la dente for my taste. Hubby’s octopus was very flavorful and perfectly grilled. Chocolate cake dessert underwhelming. Main suggestion is to reconsider the entrance to the restaurant. Folks with large parties, smaller groups with reservations and non reservations, all wander right in amongst the front dining room. Waiters politely directly them to the back as they are able. This traffic flow is a distraction to fine dining but may be managed differently when outside dining is open (it was raining.)

Caffè Tommaseo is the oldest café in Trieste and as there were many recommendations for visiting this restaurant we reserved for dinner. The location as such is very nice and the interior reflects the decor of a Viennese café. Unfortunately the food offered was of intermediate quality and the portions were very small. The service was very slow and the waiting time between courses was too long. At the end the bottle of wine I ordered was billed incorrectly. When consulting the waiter he tried to convince me that this was the correct price of my ordered bottle wine. When I asked to bring me the wine list again he finally agreed and solved the issue. During our visit we noticed many international tourists. Overall the restaurant equals a tourist trap at a very poor price-quality-ratio.

Came back to try their dinner service and it was pricey, but good! The creamed cod was definitely the lightest, refreshing version I’ve has (since most are salted). Though i would say the star was the crostini that came with it. Super crackly and light. (8/10) The truffle pasta was pleasantly light for a truffle dish. 8/10 The grilled fish (we got red snapper) was a classic triestan dish. Fish is cooked nicely, not rubbery at all. The tomatos on the side was so flavorful. 8/10. Wouldve been perfect if the skin was crispy Service was great, albeit alil slow. Though they were quite short staffed and our waiter was very passionate about explaining the food (wich was heartwarming). Even carved up our fish for us which was rlly sweet.

Davvero molto buono! Complimenti e buone feste A pleasant surprise! Historic restaurant in Trieste, a few meters from both the banks and from Piazza Unità d'Italia. It is preferable to book to find out if there are seats and above all to indicate if you want to consume in the Bar or in the Restaurant. The green pass is immediately requested, thus already a sign of seriousness regarding the anticovid regulations. The offer of the Bar department is very wide and particular, with special coffees, cakes, aperitifs, cocktails and all at a very fair cost. We had some special coffees (very particular cherry), 1 slice of Mozart cake (delicious), 1 slice of sacher (excellent, exceptional texture), some tea and a cocktail. Final bill of 54 euros. Excellent quality / price ratio. Small curiosity: at around 20 we were offered 3 flat plates of rice with gorgonzola and broccoli, with the waiter explaining that it is their tradition to offer something from the restaurant. Really very good! Congratulations and happy holidays

I rarely ever love a restaurant so much as to make a detailed review but this one blew my mind. Their food was absolutely spectacular and specifically made for us - the staff was so welcoming and attentive and made us feel so special. The pasta and oysters were top notch and the dessert was so so tasty. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and the staff customise everything based on your preferences. This restaurant was one of the highlights of my visit. I highly recommend visiting!!!!!!

Their business lunch special was perfect size and great price - one course of your choice which includes glass of wine, coffee, water and chair for only 14 euro per person. Went back for dinner and Dino our waiter was great with suggestions and had great conversations with him. My two boys even talked and laughed with him. Dinner spent almost three hours enjoying the food, atmosphere and conversation.
