Absolutely awful. If I could stand in front with a sign saying "avoid", I would. I have dined at countless restaurants in dozens of cities in more than a dozen countries and I have never had this poor of an experience. We were not all served our appetizer before our dinner and our dinners were not served at the same time. 30 min after three of us finished, after no acknowledgement that the food was late or stopping by our table, I got up, found the server and told him we wanted to cancel the order and get the bill. After 20 minutes, the food was not here, I repeated that I wanted the bill and to cancel the order. The food arrived and then the bill arrived at the same time and we were told we had to pay for it. Even though I cancelled it 20 m earlier and I refused to eat it. We were told we ordered food 50 min ago and that it took 18 min to cook - what was going on during the 32 min we ordered, ate and waited? No wonder it wasn't full - tourist trap with subpar food and service. I was rude and I would be rude again. They were so rude, this is my first Google restaurant review, because the only thing I can do is warn all Americans who want to enjoy a nice meal to avoid this place like the plague. Spend your hard earned money and precious time on vacation elsewhere.
Edit: In their response, they accuse me of disrespecting their staff (which I already acknowledged above) - that disrespect occurred in the last 2 min of our interaction and not once during the meal and my 90 minutes at the restaurant. My entire experience can be summed up as "disrespect."
Edit 2: 90 minutes was supposed to be two courses. We ordered an antipasti and a primi. All came out at one time except the dish in question. 90 m for one serving of food is...
Read moreOn our travels through Istria we came by Triest and where exited to read about the Coffee history of the town. So we looked at the possibilities for good coffee and settled for the Tommaseo. The caffè has some real charme back from the old days and so it is a really pleasant place to relax. As for the coffee it self we where unfortunately not as pleasantly surprised. We had Cappuccino, Late macchiato, Hot chocolate and a tiramisu. Cappuccino and Late macchiato where not really hot but rather lukewarm when they arrived at our table. The cappuccino was missing most of its milk foam and was rather another Late macchiato in a cup. But it doesn't stop there. The taste was plain disappointing. I was surprised to read at the door that they "just" serve plain old illy in that historic place but I had much better illy in other places around the world. There was just no full flavor to be found in that cappuccino or late macchiato. We where really disappointed. To top it of the water they served with the coffee had a noticeable chlorine taste. All of that would have been ok for having that coffee at a roadside stop but for a historic caffè with double the prices of the average Triest cafe a few blocks down it really left me wondering ... It's really a shame and I hope it was just an Easter Monday fluke. The two stars are only for the charme of the interior of...
Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant during our honeymoon visiting Trieste for the very first time from Ireland and it quickly became one of the standout experiences of our trip.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by maître Loris, whose passion, knowledge, and exceptional recommendations made our evening unforgettable. Loris’s guidance through the menu and wine list was beyond impressive , each dish and pairing elevated our experience to something truly special.
We were served by the fantastic Dino- Jo, who were equally attentive, friendly, and professional throughout. The service was flawless warm, genuine, and perfectly paced.
The food? Simply the best we’ve had in years. So much so, we came back again during our short stay something we very rarely do on holiday. Every plate was bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care and expertise.
This is more than just a restaurant it’s an experience, made memorable by people who clearly love what they do. Thank you Loris, Dino Jo for making our honeymoon in Trieste even more magical. We’ll be talking about this place for years to come and recommending it to everyone! You must visit when in Trieste.
