The pizzas deserve 5 stars. They are huge and high quality. I especially recommend the Margherita alla fiamma, which contains fire flames due to the alcohol. However, if you want to take a picture of it while it is burning, you have to hurry up because the flame goes out quickly. The prices are very reasonable compared to other pizzerias. The pizzeria also hosts celebrities and was also featured as a location in a movie (Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love 2010). I gave 4 stars because there are certain things that could be improved. The staff is friendly, but despite the marked tables, they don't know who ordered which pizza. We hadn't even placed an order yet and they brought us pizzas and drinks several times that we didn't even order. Then they asked the other guests if they had ordered them. Due to the lack of organization, we were worried if the bill would be correct. I have to say that the bill was correct for us. The tiramisu was okay but not worth €6. The toilets are only for one person at a time, which means that it gets crowded quickly and you have to wait. The toilet is also next to the kitchen, so when you're waiting in line, the staff constantly walking through the line. However, despite certain things that need to be improved, I recommend the...
Read moreIf you want the best pizza, this is one of the best places to go to. But it's not for the demanding guest, as the ambient is very simple and the service is, well, let's say, very basic. The toilets are the usual Trieste "one for all", pissed over and with no paper affair. The tables and chairs are like in a cantina, and it's crowdy like sardines in a can, so it feels like you are encouraged to eat and go away fast, so that others can come. The knifes are blunt so it's not always easy to cut... etc etc. And you pay for the service charge besides the food and drinks. Not sure why actually - it makes more sense on the piazza because there is at least a nicely cloth covered table and comfortable chairs and very attentive and kind service. So, the pizza is a legend, all the rest is just basic and pricey. And one plus is also that you get the old school 330ml Coca-Cola bottle for the normal price and not the stingy 250ml version. That's a rarity and has to be praised. And we will come back for sure every time because of the pizza, just closing an eye for everything else, because it's just...
Read moreUnfortunately, this location didn't quite meet our expectations. Let me explain - the review may be slightly skewed, since I'm basing it on a phenomenal experience at the original location in Naples. We visited the other location a few years ago, and the pizzas (and everything else) was SO good. The ingredients tasted very fresh and the marinara pizza, especially, had so much flavour.
We MADE SURE to stop at this location while in Trieste and it didn't quite make it to the standard of the restaurant in Naples. The marinara pizza was bland, the sauce seemed to be completely different with far less spices and the basil seemed old. The four cheese pizza was decent.
Portions are large and the street where the restaurant is located is lively! So, while there are positives, and I believe you can have a good experience here, don't expect the standard of the Naples restaurant (the one features in Eat,...
