Rusti&Co - Arancini — Restaurant in Tropea

I'm obsessed with this place I honestly wish that this place existed in every town in the world. They have the most delicious take-away pizza I have ever had in all of Italy. The crust is amazing, the Tropean onions are amazing, the pizza in general is AMAZING. The smell is what led me into the place to begin with, and after eating their arancino (Tropea), which is incidently the best I've ever had in all of Italy as well, I had to go back later that day for a slice of their pizza. I went back to Tropea a week later, and had more pizza, and then a few days after that and brought a friend with me, where we had even more food. The manager (I'm guessing) told us that they have another location in Taormina, Sicily, which I haven't been to (yet). All I can say is that the two arancini that I had (Tropea and another one with smoked salmon), and the unbelievably fantastic pizza - there was honestly no good reason for me to try any other restaurant or fast food place in Tropea during my stay. the location is awesome, since they're basically the closest eatery in the center of town on the way to and from the train station, and they're basically right in the heart of the city center as well. They are located right in front of (what I presume to be) the main church. Staff is super friendly here, and they have a ton of different ready made items to choose from, and in addition, they even have a chips stand. The prices are pretty reasonable, and if you're looking for something quick and to take with you as you walk around town or head to the beach, this is a great solution. The one and only bad thing, is that because this place is so small they only had one table inside, and no seating outdoors. So if the table is occupied, you are out of luck as far as seating. Which does stink if you are tired from a long day of walking around.

Sono venuta a mangiare con il mio ragazzo, pensavamo di prendere diverse cose e poi assaggiarle e dividercele. Il mio ragazzo prende 2 arancini e una polpetta di melanzane, io due arancini. In quel momento però noto che c'è n'è un altro di un gusto che mi interessa provare e quindi, appena il signore al banco finisce di mettere sul vassoio quello che gli ho già chiesto in precedenza, gli chiedo di aggiungerne uno. Lui esordisce con faccia seria e quasi seccata con un "E quanti te ne vuoi magià?". Mi sono sentita mortificata, come se mi stesse giudicando. La cosa del resto non mi sorprende, avendo letto molte recensioni che si lamentano della cortesia del personale (probabilmente riferite al signore con il quale ho avuto a che fare anch'io, visto che il ragazzo alla cassa è invece stato molto gentile). A parte che arrivavamo da una mattinata di viaggio senza aver fatto colazione ed era ora di pranzo, potevamo benissimo aver voglia di portarne via uno per mangiarlo in seguito in spiaggia magari... ma a prescindere il commento mi è sembrato fuori luogo da parte di quello che sembrava essere il proprietario, visto che sono proprio le consumazioni ciò di cui vive un locale di ristorazione. Per il resto, il prezzo (almeno per quanto riguarda gli arancini) è giusto (2,50€ l'uno). Il cibo non è nemmeno male anche se, come ho avuto modo di leggere anche in altre recensioni, non è molto saporito. (Senza infamia e senza lode) L'ambiente è piccolino ma è perfettamente in linea con l'idea di una classica...

Tried 4 different tastes of arancini, the potato & mozzarella croquettes and 2 different slices of pizza. The arancini were crispy on the outside, soft and melty on the inside. The potato croquettes basically melted in your mouth. Best I've tried so far. The pizza slices were not what I expected in flavour but were good nonetheless. You can't beat the price of any of these items. Service was fast...
