Osteria In Vino Veritas — Restaurant in Turin

Located in the pedestrian only area, it’s a little restaurant that can become extremely crowded. We ordered some cold appetizer and mains. Not sure if it’s fault of the waiter (that was by the way absolutely incompetent) or of the kitchen but they manage to serve only one of us, serving appetizer (that was a cold Vitello Tonnato and therefore should have been basically ready) and the main after 20 minute and after another 15 minute the othering of us who also had a cold appetizer. We came in late for a dinner without reserving a table and were seated by a very helpful and kind waitress. She helped us with translation of the Italian menu, and recommended some dishes that were local specialty. The dinner’s highlight was a beef tartare (as a stater) served with Gorgonzola ice cream (!). Believe it or not, it was delicious and one of its kind. Excellent trattoria, and very “classic”. Food & wine menu are written by hand, always a good sign. Go with local dishes, ask the waiting staff for a wine pairing, and again, go local. You can’t miss. We explained broadly what we don’t like, and we were recommended a lovely bottle of Nebbiolo, nothing crazy @ €20 but just perfect for our spontaneous meal.

Would definitely help to speak a little Italian just to be respectful, I can’t rate the ease of English translation as we ordered in...
