Very disappointed. I came about 7 years ago (before Covid), and it was extraordinary. The museum was a true living encyclopedia of film history. As you ascended to the top of the tower, the history of cinema unfolded before your eyes, with brilliant staging ideas, screens cleverly installed in different rooms where the decoration matched the projected theme. It was a delight for both film enthusiasts and novices alike. The museum was extremely educational but also interactive, thanks to its scenography, which required the proactive involvement of its visitors. Simply a treat—you could spend hours there… Like in that pink room (if my memory serves me well) that played a compilation of iconic (or not) romance scenes while you lay on a heart-shaped bed. The museum was exceptionally rich, with an endless collection of films from around the world and across all eras. One could get lost in this infinite torrent, which took us on a journey through time and landscapes. It was a grand tribute to the power of imagination unique to cinema—this art of moving images and sound!
Sadly, today the museum is nothing like it was, having transformed into a gallery of simple movie posters with a didactic hallway that covers the filmmaking process from scriptwriting to set design, which you can finish in just a few minutes. Another new aspect is a temporary exhibition in the form of a wall gallery, showcasing authentic pieces from legendary action or recent superhero films. Much like cinema is disappearing behind the success of Marvel’s rubbish, this magnificent museum has also succumbed to the generic trend of: “Let’s put in some superheroes; they’re so accessible to an audience with little regard for their intellectual faculties, so… it’ll work!”
