Truly awful experience.
What started as an unexceptional meal in an unexceptional restaurant ended in vomit and a level of service not seen since Fawlty Towers closed its doors.
Travelling with my family we asked the waiter to ensure “niente maiale, no pork”. He clearly understood us and assured us everything was “no pork”. My wife had a vegetable cannelloni and discovered that the second one has some chewy bits in it. Turns out this was pork and it horrified my wife who had managed to avoid it her whole life for religious reasons. She couldn’t help but feel sick.
I expect anyone reading this has experienced a mistake in their order - it happens. What made this so special was how the staff and management chose to deal with the situation. When I told the waiter he went off to check and then came back to inform us that it did have pork in it but I had apparently asked him to ensure there was no honey (miele) rather than no pork (maiale), despite him confirming “no pork” in English and my admittedly weak Italian being able to differential the two words.
Then, to make us feel truly welcome the manager chose to reiterate that it was my fault for not being clear. I asked him if a customer had ever asked him if his cannelloni contained honey before? His reply was that I should learn to speak Italian before visiting his country.
We left our half eaten meals and I paid our bill but refused to pay for the cannelloni.
A simple mistake compounded by a rubbish response ruined our whole trip into Turin.
In many trips to Italy this is the only time I have had cause to complain. Avoid this dump and choose one of the many hundreds of better...

Read moreWhat an absolute delight to discover this traditional, family owned and run restaurant. The history is in the photos on the walls, and Federica is the consummate hostess; charming, friendly, and caring. We were treated as friends. We ate here 4 consecutive nights and wish we could still be able to go there! The food is old school, fresh and tasty. The extensive menu has delights that we tried, such as: swordfish carpaccio, orechiette al ragu, risotto with prawns and zucchini, fillet with green peppercorns, taccone/ broad beans (we love this one!), and even fusilli al pomodoro. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Thank you for your gracious hospitality that made our Turin visit very special....
