Me and my partner went for dinner, we didn't have a reservation but they let us seat as it was 7pm.
This is of course my personal review but there are some things that I felt works really well in this restaurant but more that could be improved with a bit of work:
Positive: they did have gluten free pasta which is great and the quality of the food itself was delicious, same thing for the wine. The decor is also lovely, few tables inside as it was raining so very intimate if that's what you are looking for.
To improve: attention to the customer needs revision, the waiter didn't know what type of gluten free pasta they had plus couldn't really suggest what dishes I could take from the menu that were gluten free. He was also quite absent, even though there were 2 tables we had to call him couple of times to order, he didn't bring us the wine list, he suggested one glass of Nobile which we understood was 7€ but at the bill was 9 (he also didn't even pour half glass), coperto was 3€ per person but we didn't even get the bread (I know we only ordered pasta but he should have done it anyway), plus they don't have gluten free bread. I had the chianina ragu and no cheese for the pasta was brought to the table.
I'm totally fine to pay a bit more but the experience and the customer service needs to match the level as well not...
Read moreMauro and his wife are the best. It's taken me two years to write this as I don't write reviews. But I owe it to them. They made our trip to Tuscany! We stumbled in one random day when they opened. We had great conversation and delicious food with the owners. Mauro's wife, I wish I could remembered her name, is an amazing chef! We were having fun with them for about an hour, then suddenly, they shut the restaurant down at around 7pm and joined us for dinner and wine. We had a blast. We had a car full of wine that we couldn't bring home from wine tasting in the area. We decided to give them to Mauro and his wife since they were so hospitable. They loved it. But then Mauro disappeared into his caller and came back with a very special selection of wine for us to take home. We had a big laugh with them as my plan backfired as we still had a case of wine to figure out how to get home. We found a way to ship it home and are still enjoying them on special occasions. What an experience! We plan to go back someday just to see them again. This restaurant is a great gem in Pienza!!! I also placed this review on yelp in hopes that Mauro reads it and knows how much we appreciated our time with them. Sincerely,...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stumbled onto this place after wandering through the stunning town of Pienza. Despite it being "off-season" we accidentally found this place at the top of a beautiful coblestone road and after peeking in, we were warmly welcomed by Christof. It's no exaggeration that this was one of the best meals of my life, if not the best. We had amazing Prosecco to start, and Christof gave us some interesting history of the place, his family, and some wise tips. He gave us a sample of three different kinds of olive oil and asked us to chose but frankly it was difficult, they were all outstanding. I started with the classic Cacio e Pepe. Upon my first bite my eyes rolled to the back of my head and almost didn't come back, yes, that good. My girlfriend had the carbonara and she had a similar reaction. Then he shocked me with some of the best Italian craft beer I've tasted. Chris has cool stories about his love of beer making and his new restaurant Prosit, which I have to try next time. Oh I forgot, the rack of lamb was sublime so get that too. You can't go wrong with anything on that menu I'm sure of it. So good I'm planning my trip back just to eat there. Thanks Christof (bravo to...
