We really enjoyed our food here. On the more reasonable side of cost for inner city Venice. There is a host outside to show you in. He is needed as the restaurant front is on the small side. I think some of the waiters prefer English as Italian isn't their native language. Aperitifs were good. We had the Bellini, and I had the Hugo, which is becoming a new favorite of mine over the more popular Aperol. My daughter had the pasta with lobster. We were shocked to see an entire shelled lobster split down the middle with huge claws. A great value at $32. I had the ubiquitous pasta carbonara, which was tasty. My son had an interesting pasta dish. He is picky but ate it all. Just 2 blocks from the first Piazza San Marco waterbus stop. No views other than the narrow street out front.

FOOD POISONING ALERT My girlfriend ordered the Gnocchi with Mixed Cheese. Our guess is they used goat cheese or cheese that went bad. I ordered the Spaghetti Genovese. Other than that we shared the cold cut platter and bread. She came down with terrible food poisoning today, and this was the only thing either of us had eaten the entire day. She is currently in unbelievable pain and has been taken to hospital. My food was average, I would not say it is the best food I’ve ever eaten. But there are some concerns with quality clearly based on the food poisoning. We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took a while to get service and our orders, and at the very end, the check.

Beautiful restaurant in an Italian theme and they had a lunch special that was a very good deal. Overall most of the food was on the bland side and several of our group had to salt it to taste. Everyone thought their dish needed more flavor. The salads were fresh however and there were good reviews from the group on the gnocchi, the pesto spaghetti, and the calamari. Oh, and the patatas frito were freaking fantastic. You must try them because they are not your typical out of the bag version and they were cooked perfectly. Downside is the lasagna was very soft and bland and I had to ask for most of the other things such as the oil and vinegar to bring bread.

The outside appearance looked pretty good with live catch displayed from restaurant window. We had a number of waiters serving us (uncommon, but not a deal breaker) so I will try to summarize our experience - First server Firoz was kind of rude and abrupt. When I asked him about the size of pizza he said it's Italian size. Unsure what that meant. I asked him if it was single slice or full size. When I referred to 10/12/14", he said it's 20cm. I was surprised but ordered anyway. After entree was served, Firoz disappeared completely without a mention of him getting replaced by whom. Our pizza was served by another person and so was the wine. No one came in between to ask about the food or if we needed anything. At the end when it was time to clear the plates another person came and asked how was everything (Hasan). We waited for quite a while if someone would ask for desert and finally when we looked around for the check. Hasan came over and asked if we wanted desert. We also chit chat quite a bit and it was then he said he was the manager. I was quite upset by this time but the chat kind of pacified me. While waiting for desert I heard another waiter cursing behind a customer (in native language). Also heard Firoz tell a customer that desert was 'homemade', to which the other customer was pretty amused and so was I. There was nothing homemade of the desert served there. Food wasn't bad but the service was below average and pretty lackluster. Sometimes few things were pretty hilarious as well.

Of late we never go to restaurant with bad reviews and made this exception (without looking at it) since it looked good from outside and plus it was close to St. Mark's Square. We were intrigued by the staff in a Italian restaurant and hence gave them the benefit of doubt. So with the exception of Hasan, I don't think we can say too many good things about this place.

Would not recommend to...

Avoid this restaurant at all cost. The service is appalling and the food is terrible. My girlfriend asked for a glass of wine and the waiter said that it comes in a small bottle, we said OK. When they brought the bill, the price of said bottle was 3 times the price of the glass of wine listed on the menu.

When we queried this with the waiter, he said that the guy who took the order was new. So we pay extra for someone who isn’t trained properly?! Then he said we should have asked for a glass (which my girlfriend did). The wine by the way was a bottle of white which was never put on ice and it took the waiter five minutes to open as he did not know how to open the bottle so it wasn’t the service we were paying extra for!

The food was poor and microwaved. I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and I wasn’t even given a spoon to eat it with! I mean come on! If you can’t do the basics don’t open a restaurant! We were never checked back on and never offered dessert. They simply didn’t care! My girlfriend is Italian and she ordered in Italian in a place claiming to be an Italian restaurant and they claimed they didn’t understand her order?!

Go at your peril! Check your bill upon paying but avoid these con artists...

When I queried this with the waiter, he said that the guy who took the order was new. Then he said I should have asked for a glass (which I did). Then he proceeded to man-splain to me that my boyfriend drank the wine so we had to pay. Extremely rude behaviour. I am Italian and I ordered in Italian. The food was microwaved and terrible. My chicken came with 1 (yes, one) small, cold piece of roast potato. The waiter took almost 5 minutes to open the wine bottle at our table, he didn't know how to use the bottle opener. I was embarrassed for him. The restaurant was dirty and we saw people leave because they were looking for waiters attention and they ignored them. As an Italian citizen I am ashamed that places like this are allowed to stay open. Please do yourself a favour and don't eat in...
