We booked a stay here after reading some positive reviews on TripAdvisor. In hindsight however, I wish we’d opted for an accommodation which had more reviews. If you book to stay here, the main thing you are paying for is the location. Below I have outlined the pros and cons of this hotel. ||Pros:|- Excellent location, situated in the heart of San Marco.|- Helpful and friendly staff plus adorable dog at the B&B too.|- Air conditioning unit in the room which is helpful especially during summer months.|- Free WiFi.|- Sockets next to each bedside which is handy for phone charging.|- We couldn’t hear much external noise from San Marco in our room.||Cons:|- Although we didn’t hear too much outside noise, the majority of the noise we experienced ironically came from inside the hotel! The bedroom doors are all very heavy and incredibly creaky. To properly close a door, it needs to be slammed into place which can cause a lot of noise, especially at night time when other guests at the hotel are coming back late and end up waking you up by opening and closing doors. |- It was my fault for not realising but the room in the hotel we booked didn’t come with an en suite/private bathroom. We had to share a bathroom with three other bedrooms on our floor. Unfortunately many of the guests we were sharing with were not particularly considerate, and sometimes after being in the bathroom for about a minute, another hotel guest would be knocking on the door outside trying to get you to hurry up - not what you want or expect on your holiday. Annoyingly too, the toilet and bathroom were combined into one room, so you often had to queue which was especially tedious if you only wanted to use the toilet.|- The cleanliness of the hotel wasn’t the most optimal, especially when it came to the shared bathroom. There were at least two days where there was no soap at the sink. When soap was finally provided, it was a bit of a nasty and overused bar of soap which isn’t ideal for a shared bathroom situation. There was a soap dispenser at the sink but it was never filled. I also had to ask the cleaner to refresh the toilet roll since this hadn’t been done. These small but obvious details seemed to be overlooked.|- Another reason we booked this accommodation was because it came with breakfast included. The food at breakfast wasn’t particularly appetising and each day it was the same spread. |- The room we stayed in was at the very top of the building. This wasn’t too much of an issue for us, but it’s something to be mindful of if you’re staying here and have any mobility issues, since there’s no lift and you need to climb several flights of stairs to get to the top.||Overall I think this was quite an expensive stay, given that features such as a private bathroom were not standard across all rooms. However we still had a lovely time in Venice and really appreciated the location and accommodating nature of the staff. If you’re looking to find somewhere to stay in Venice that’s central and you don’t mind noise too much, then Locanda Antica Venezia may be a good fit...
Read moreHorrible customer service. Hotel is listed in expidia as a 3 star hotel. This is hostel. Trouble finding the place, opening the door. No receptionist to help. The lady that send me the instructions asked why we didn’t stay and when i told her the reasons she with a nasty attitude told me that i was exaggerating and that nobody else has this kind of issues. There were 2 other guest that were having the same issue. They couldn’t go in because the door was jammed it started raining and everyone hot soaked. The other guest also started looking for a different hotel to stay. For 75 euros more we got a real hotel close by. The pictures for this placeare Outdated. The bathroom with mold and the ac were horrible. Updated** im talking about overall the entrance and the lobby of your (guest house) is not what is showed on Expedia. I did used the code as i said before a couple of times. There were 2 other people with reservetion that could not open the door either with the same code. I tried calling you via whatsapp to see what was the issue and nothing until the day after that you were intrigued why we did not used the room. So to improve for the future cuz i see the attitude is the same and the sassy words in your comment is so great customer service. Have a hotline for turist like us that came to visited a foreign country and are stocked in the middle of the rain with the hotel door jammed and not able to used “the right code you provided”. Update the overall entrance photos and the lobby( they are not the same and this is called false alvertisment because you Dont offer a refund once is booked) we believed in what you showed on expedia. 3- And finally the customer service needs a person that doesn’t blame the client and tried to understand the frustration. You the person who answered thru whatsapp cant tell your customer if you want them to return that they are exagerating and the issues we had did not happen. This is unprofessional and should be handled differently but Dont worry the important here is to fixed the false advertisement of the lobby entrance and main street entrance. I will escalated this as far as i can. Your client service skills are no important. See other comments that are referring to my same...
Read moreWe chose to stay in this “Inn/Locanda” instead of a classic hotel because we were looking for “authenticity” (something very rare to find in Venice). This historic house - where Lord Byron used to have his ”romantic escapes” in Venice - went far beyond our expectations. The location is strategic, a stone's throw from Piazza San Marco and "La Fenice" theatre. Rooms are clean, furnished in respect of the authentic Venetian style but without giving up maximum comfort. But the highlights of the place are the breakfast room located in a romantic attic complete with sofas and period furniture and the incredible rooftop overlooking the city. The staff is helpful and Gianluca is a valuable source of advices. In short, a gem not to be missed for those looking for a taste of the authentic Venice (that unfortunately is fading away)
