The experience at Hotel da Bruno was okay! For context, it isn’t my first time in Venice.
Overall, I must say I feel a bit of discrepancy between my experience and that of most other reviewers.
The good:
bed was comfortable. cappuccino at breakfast was excellent. they remembered I needed gf options at breakfast without my even asking twice! So great. one of the gentlemen kindly brought me a fan to use staff was very kind! location is right in the middle of things
Less good: the room was extremely tiny even by Venice standards. Two suitcases would not be able to open on the floor. the shower (extremely extremely small) had not one ledge for soaps. I had to leave them on the sink outside and keep opening and closing the shower door to get to shampoo, body wash etc my window wouldn’t lock; not sure if it was broken or just like that. I am a solo female and, even though I was on a higher floor, I didn’t like this. my curtain chain was broken and wouldn’t close so I had to tuck it behind the cracked window for privacy the air conditioning is seasonal* this is a big one for certain travelers. I’m a dual citizen but definitely lean into my American side when it comes to temperature control preferences lol. I haaate being warm while inside. I lucked out that it turned out to not be extremely extremely warm with the exception of the first day, but just beware!! Also no screen so if you open the window, mosquitoes come in. There is was plug-in liquid repellent in the room, but I still had bugs flying around bc I had to open the window to relieve stuffiness. If you’ve ever been to Venice, you’ll know that the mosquitoes can absolutely feast on you overnight and leave you waking up wondering why you have red spots everywhere. I found some hair in the shower and bed when I first arrived. Very offputting. it may be on me, and I may have missed the fine print, but when you book a terrace room, this means a separate terrace outside the door to your room — not a terrace that you can enter from the privacy of your room. my brother lives in Venice, and he came up one evening to pick up some cookies I bought him. The second we got to the room, concierge called on the phone and admonished that if he was going to stay more than an hour he would need to register his passport. Not a huge deal, but it felt a little aggressive. They could have waited a few minutes and seen that disrupting wasn’t even necessary because it was a quick thing.
If the price is right for you, I don’t think you’ll have a terrible stay. However, I do think I would elect to stay...
Read moreI can't be more thrilled about the wonderful experience we had with Hotel Da Bruno and their serviced apartments Charming Venice Apartments. Everything about my 2.5 week family stay over Christmas and New Years was absolutely terrific and completely exceeded my expectations.
Highlights: Located perfectly between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square, 5 to 7 minutes walk to these activity hot spots. Get lost, and easily re-orient to these landmarks 3 minutes to a supermarket, and many restaurants and specialty shops throughout the area (don't miss Crazy Pizza or historic Gelato right next door) From Marco Polo Airport water bus to Rialto Bridge, water taxi to a canal 2 minutes away, or take a taxi or bus to Piazzale Roma and walk or water transit from there (ask the hotel for details) Clean, modern, well appointed rooms and amenities Lastly but very importantly, 24 hour customer service is 5+++ star! Treated like family by the wonderful family staff, always willing to help, guide, or accommodate any of your needs!
Don't miss the opportunity to stay here for your Venice trip. My first visit to Venice and because of this wonderful experience we will be back! No need to look for any other accommodation. This...
Read moreNice little hotel in Castello district in Venice. 5 min walk from nearest Vaporetto stop ; Rialto. 5 min walk also from Piazza San Marco. Nested in a bustling little street .|Hotel sent me advice on which Vaporetto line to use , where to get off and sent directions using pictures of landmarks between the stop and hotel which was a brilliant idea and I found my way there with ease . Also provided advice around a good app to download and use for directions when out and about...an absolute necessity .|Hotel feels a bit jaded but has character. Room small but comfortable with reasonable facilities. Aircon a bit noisy. Was at rear of property and no street noise at all. |Breakfast buffet style was decent. |Staff were all so friendly, polite and helpful. |Fridge in room but no tea/coffee making facilities but kettle and sachets free to use at bar.|Venice is a weird magical place and I wouldn't hesitate booking Da Bruno again...
