I read the other reviews, and do not fully agree with the negative ones...maybe they’ve improved or maybe I showed up on a good day. I ordered the special menu which included a first course option, a second course option, and a dessert.
For the first course I selected spaghetti with clams. It was great! It was the best portion size that I have found so far in Venice. Just the right amount of seasoning, and I DID get the occasional crunch of shell/grit but that happens occasionally with shellfish.
For my second course, I chose calamari fritti. The calamari was lightly battered and had just the right amount of firmness and season. It was served alongside a grilled strip of zucchini, grilled bell pepper slice, and grilled eggplant slice. All tasted great and I was unable to finish all the calamari at this point.
The dessert was clearly microwaved to warm it, but generally tasted good. I would recommend they either find another way to warm (how about the brick oven the pizzas are cooked in?) or serve cold. This was my only complaint.
I ordered two glasses of house wine (better than average) and a 75cl bottle of acqua frizzanti (water with bubbles) and the total cost was less than €30.
The service was extremely friendly, the food was great, the price was great, and the location was great. I recommend you give it a try.
I’ll definitely go back!...

In tue Italian trattoria style, it offers homely Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, including pizza, seafood, and vegetarian options. The restaurant gets the nod for affordable prices, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere.
Their variety of dishes is refreshing with their pizzas being highly popular. I was impressed with the seafood offerings though with the baked fish, clam pasta and calamari coming out tops. Their lasagne is also very good as are the desserts.
Their wine menu is also pretty extensive and they offer dining specials with a combined starter, mains and dessert to suit most budgets. Overall, we found Antico Gafaro to be pretty minimalistic on design and but a good, clean, welcoming spot for casual dining, especially if you're looking for a reasonably priced, hearty...
