Unlike other reviewers, the curfew didn't bother me because I didn't venture out at night. But my train left rather early so I left the minute they unlocked the doors in the morning. If you have to leave early to catch your train or plane, make sure you understand the curfew hours. ||||It used to be a convent so I'm surprised so many reviewers complain about the sparse rooms. Nuns didn't need all of the luxuries we require, so I wasn't surprised the room had a single bed, small simple desk and chair and bookcase. And only 1 electrical outlet. That's why I always travel with a small power strip so I can have 3 outlets. Come prepared and this hotel is sufficient. However...||||It has a/c in the building but it's extremely weak. I had a ceiling fan in my room that was on low, but the ceiling was so high that guests can reach it to turn it up so you're stuck with the weak a/c and weak fan. I was there mid Sept during a heat wave so I wasn't thrilled having to endure my hot flashes while in sticky Venice. You can't really prop the window open, mosquitos were horrible. I also turned the mattress around, the cot was up against the wall and the mattress sloped towards the room (away from the wall) because that's how most people sleep. That bothered me so I flipped the mattress so the wall side was facing out and it fixed my quirky problem and I slept fine. Pillows were hard as a rock, but I have my own so that didn't bother me. ||||The kitchen has a microwave, kettle, one-burner stove with pots and pans, the cupboard has basic kitchen things, cups, plates, etc. And people were leaving crackers and snacks out to share. ||||The roof top terrace was gorgeous. I took a lot of video and photos, I loved sitting up there with the breeze, listening to all of the church bells. ||||There is a transom window above the room door and it was open, so a lot of light from the hallway came in. If that bothers you, again, prepare and bring an eye mask. I used one so the light was no big deal. The noise wasn't "too" bad but I did hear people getting up and going to the bathroom. The other loud noise was people trying to get into their rooms. The keys are the old skeleton key and it's not easy to maneuver in the lock so you heard a lot of clanking and cussing lol, but not too disrupting. There are a ton of photos already posted and I don't have any that reflect something new so I'm not posting photos. ||||The location was a little aggravating because it's on a corner. The gps on my phone got me turned around, it just didn't work well in Venice. The hotel was nice enough to send me directions that said "if you google the location it might be incorrect so here are accurate directions" and they give you 2 options on how to get there from the train station. That was extremely helpful and I walked to the hotel with no problem. It's not close to the main attractions like St. Marks Square, but not that long of a walk. The challenge for me is a bad knee so getting lost and just wandering around stopped being fun and quaint after an hour or so. My gps kept sending me to a bridge that was closed for construction so I was lost quite a bit. I'm 54 years old with a bad knee so I'm sure that's not a problem for young healthy people. While I really liked staying in a former convent (I read about the history of the chapel) I won't stay here again. I'll spend a little more money for a hotel with better a/c and better location to the water. Actually, I didn't really like Venice at all so I won't return. But if I do, I...

Read moreThis is my first time in Venice and I wanted something cheap and convenient. I came across this hostel and didn’t expect much at the first place.||||However, when I reached the counter, I was greeted by this gentleman who was smiling and energetic. It made me feel good to be here! He told us where the facilities are located and even recommended us places to go around in Venice. He has very good knowledge about what’s happening around here. ||||When I went up to the room, it is a 3-people-shared-room. I feel like it’s just right because I came with one friend and we got to know that there will be another girl checking in into our room at night. I really love how the room is not shared by too many people because this has allowed me to make friends easier. All thanks to them, I made a friend from Russia and we had a good interaction in the room. It is also a same-gender-shared room! Love it!||||There is a sink located inside the room which is convenient for us to brush our teeth or wash our faces. There are also sockets near the beds for easier charging and reachable for the 3 people.||||The toilets are located in the middle of the hallway, and the room I’m in is just right across the toilet which is very convenient for somebody like me who constantly have full bladder haha.||||The shower rooms are very clean as well and I really love the privacy. It is an individual shower room with toilet bowl inside and some with sinks. So you can do whatever you need in that toilet without having a lot people around you. It felt like home!||||What I love most is the terrace located at level 4, which I’m able to do star gazing and chilling at night. There are many seats available and you can just kill time over there at night if you can’t sleep!||||There are also lounges located at ground level with board games available to you, you can just chill or relax before going out for dinner again.||||A small and cozy kitchen is also available located at ground level which have coffee machine, microwaves, hot water, stove etc. There are coffee and tea available to us as well! Plates and cups and utensils are also available! It is so convenient and I really feel like I am at home. T_T this is something that made me feel so comfortable staying here. The rooms are very clean as well!||||The distance to town area is also only 30 minutes walk without stopping to shop etc. You will walk past a lot of shops and restaurants, which is really everything walkable distance. Venice is not very big, and I think the location is just right because it gave me opportunities to exercise as well. Oh! It’s very near to the bus and train stations as well! ||||Overall, it was a very good 4D3N experience with the helpful staff at the front desk! I really love how the arrangement each guests is in each room. So happy that I made new...
