Cà D’Oro alla Vedova presents a well-executed example of traditional Venetian cuisine in a warm and characterful setting. We began our meal with the restaurant’s renowned meatballs, which lived up to their reputation. They were expertly prepared-crispy on the outside, yet tender and moist within-offering a well-balanced texture and flavour.
For our main courses, we selected two pasta dishes: bigoli with anchovies and onions, and bucatini with bacon, tomato, and pecorino. Both were characterised by simplicity and restraint, allowing the quality and balance of the ingredients to shine. The dishes demonstrated a thoughtful approach to traditional flavours without overcomplication.
We paired our meal with the house white wine, which was appropriately chilled and offered a crisp profile that complemented the food well. To finish, we enjoyed a classic tiramisu and a pannacotta, both of which were well-executed. The tiramisu was balanced and not overly sweet, while the pannacotta was smooth and creamy, with a pleasing, silky texture.
Service throughout was professional yet approachable, striking a commendable balance between efficiency and hospitality. While the restaurant maintains an informal and relaxed atmosphere, the staff demonstrated attentiveness and competence throughout the meal.
It is advisable to make a reservation, particularly during peak dining hours, as the restaurant is popular and tables fill quickly. Without a booking, one may expect to wait at the bar before being seated.

Read moreI have rarely left a negative review, but I feel led to help fellow tourists. I went there on a food tour and loved their polpette appetizer meatballs. So, in 2019, I returned with friends and tried their dinner. It was good and the service was ok. I thought it could be better... easily agitated, but I'm super friendly, embrace cultural differences and travel often to various countries and rarely have an issue. 2 days ago I returned to alla Vedova. The 2 young ladies who traded service to our table were devoid of personalities. Super flat. They joked around, flirted even, and enjoyed the bartender guys, but completely ignored our table. We tried everything to make them smile. We were polite, we were complimentary, but we received only indifference and a hurried attitude. One even rolled her eyes at my husband as she left. When our appetizer came, it was dropped on table. We felt as though we were a complete inconvenience. The restaurant was close to empty at 7pm except for the bar. When our food finally came, it was good, but not amazing or any better than so many countless friendly Venetian restaurants, but with the bad taste of the ambiance and service, the food probably suffered since naturally your experience is connected to your palate and wallet, we were disappointed we wasted a dinner in this restaurant. I felt worse because I recommend it. I spoke to the concierge at our hotel about it. He said the meatballs are really good, but he too has been treated poorly several times and it is rare in a Ventian restaurant. He said that unfortunately, alla Vedova is getting a bad reputation among the locals as well and many hotels have not recommended them for...
Read moreWe ( wife 5 yr old and me) made reservations for dinner at this place through our concierge at probably one of the top 3 most prestigious hotels on the main island..our concierge confirmed the reservation. When we arrived, the waiter was uncouth, rude, ill mannered and said we had no reservations, to "go and tell our hotel HE said so! It's ok to not admit someone because your busy, I get that. It's ok to forget a reservation.i get that too. But I can't accept such a response from a "HE" - Who's "HE"? An uncultured mannerless nobody waiter who's probably a mid school dropout on minimum wage IE, someone noone need to take lip from. Infact ALL the waiters there seemed the same breed. To "HE"- your food doesn't matter, manners go further. Tell your colleagues too. I wouldn't eat or recommend your dive to anyone who commands a remote degree of self respect. A few here have commented these waiters are discriminatory against Americans, New Zealand etc..Well, I'm Indian and I concurr. Seems like the waiters worldview is about as far broad and inbred as the tiny bylane of insigficance where youll find this hole. PPL, food doesn't matter, manners and upbringing go further in services. Please don't go by the reviews on their seafood, that may be a four-star but service is a...
