I had a racist experience. I walked into the pub and asked if they have a table for 1 and they said i can take any seat i find. Upon finding a seat I asked the bartender if it is self service. He said yes, and I asked 'Can i have a' and he just cut me off and said 'no' in front of a bunch of people who laughed at me. I was confused and asked 'what' and he just repeated 'nope'. I was very confused. He then waved mint leaves at me and said 'nope. You have to wait''. I just tried asking for a drink 30 seconds into walking in and was cut off and laughed at. There was a waitress who was sizing me up, as well. I walked out 30 seconds later. I did nothing apart from that, didnt talk to anyone or do anything except find a seat and try to ask for a drink just once. No disturbance, no repetition or rudeness. Im a brown woman so Im not sure it it was racially charged. Dont know why they did this, not sure if it was that one waiter or the pubs culture altogether. Very disturbing.
POST REPLY EDIT: ok these guys are weirdly hostile and holier than thou for no reason. Dont even want to dignify it with an actual response. People ask bartenders for drinks, donno how that warrants a hostile embarrassing 'education'. Really bizarre. Just be normal and talk to people decently lol wth. Going by the other low rated reviews that say the same thing, they just seem off. Good for the people who did have a good experience...
Read moreDon’t be fooled. Atmosphere is ok here but the service is terrible. Arrogant people behind the bar, rude to customers in general and especially to who do not order alcoholic beverages and be aware of the water scam. Order a glass of coke and a water to which I got told they don’t accept cards but cash only, mind you the water was from a tap in front of me. Ended up paying 1€ for the glass of water and 3£ for a small glass of coke. Right after me the bartender served someone who paid by card after ordering a glass of beer 🤨🤓
Highly would recommend to read the previous reviews as there seems to be a pattern with behaviour and price issues .
Edit after response from the owner: got told no card and was thirsty so of course I’ll pay cash. Given 2x 2€ and a 1€ coin as I got told it’s “about 5€” and got given the 1€ coin back. Regardless, still isn’t right to be rude to your customers and at least put a sign about the limited amount needed to be spent to pay card, instead of the other cringe signs around the...
Read moreFelt like intruders from the moment we stepped through the door. Was told this is not an Irish bar its italian, after trying the drinks we agree the lager was flat and the guinness tasted like it came straight out the canal. About as Irish as leonardo da Vinci.
P.s. don’t go here if you need the toilet, there’s no seat, no working tap and no hand wash. Not very hygienic.
EDIT: in response to the reply below. Didn’t mention the part about being given a half instead of a pint as that was clearly a misunderstanding but good to know you wanted to argue about the matter rather than resolve it.
The bathrooms were unhygienic as myself and other reviews have pointed out, regardless of what you say we have done wrong in trying to work the taps.
Don’t really need to say any more about your level of professionalism as everyone can see in your responses that you clearly aren’t trying to improve on constructive criticism. ‘See you never’ shows exactly what you think of your customers… So much for the customer is...
