Are you looking for a delicious way to cool off during the hot summer days in Venice? Look no further than Gelateria il Doge! Located right in the heart of Venice and is guaranteed to satisfy your cravings for something sweet. You’re instantly filled with wonder at all of their flavors that stretch across colors that make up a rainbow. From classic favorites like Chocolate, Pistachio and Strawberry to creative blends like Lemon-Rosemary Sorbet, I guarantee there’s something here for everyone. Picture this - the hot summer sun shines down in Venice, Italy and it's time for a cool treat. As you explore the winding streets and canals of the beautiful city, your nose picks up an unmistakable smell - gelato! The small gelateria tucked away on a quiet street corner is called "Gelateria il Doge" and holds true to its vision of providing locals with some of the best artisanal Italian ice cream around. There I stand drooling at each flavor from lemonade to chocolate chip cookie dough, all topped with fresh fruit or nuts or soft velvety whipped cream. Truly the perfect end to my day spent wandering through Venice’s vibrant streets! there’s no better time than now to visit this amazing establishment - so make sure you put some space in your vacation schedule to venture over and sample their treats! I highly recommend stopping by Gelateria il Doge to satisfy your sweet tooth! Read on to find out why it’s my favourite place to get my fix of super creamy...

It can be tough to find high-quality, authentic gelato in the busier parts of Venice, so we were thrilled to come across Gelateria Il Doge. It's in a great location but feels like a genuine, local spot, not a tourist trap.

The service was very friendly and they had a great selection of interesting flavors. I decided to try their signature 'Il Doge' flavor – a cream base with candied orange and chocolate chips. It was absolutely fantastic; really creamy with a great balance of citrus and chocolate. I'm glad I took a chance on something unique to the shop.

This is a proper artisanal gelateria. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area and looking for...

I was very dissapointed. I’ve been living in Italy for a few months now and this is not what gelato is supposed to be. The texture here was totally off. Normally gelato cannot be scooped because it is not as dense as American ice cream (it is made at a higher temperature), and is very creamy and light. This was not the case here, the texture was dense and scooped into my cone, and overall lacked flavour. Also, the price was weird, normally the cheapest is 3 euros for two flavours and then 4 euros for three flavour. Here the options were 2.20 for one flavour or 4 for two. You’re better off going to grom if like me you wanted...

I was having a blast in Venice until getting to this place! First of all, I was being attended by a little girl in this Gelateria and asked for a flavor when the owner got in the middle and started talking bad about why I have asked to try a flavor in a plastic little spoon, and kept talking and talking and yelling about this even after I ordered some ice creams and bought them! He started cursing me in Italian and I understood every word. I even left them the ice creams I bought after paid them. This has been the worst experience in Venice and my whole trip!
