Order Mixed seafood platter Raw oysters 6euros each!? Mixed seafood pasta Aperol spritz
This review was tough to judge because they had so many things go well for them until we got to the pasta...
Mixed seafood platter - tough to justify for the price and portion but being in Venice, I expected tourist markups so do what you will with that. Having said that, the seafood was still very good and had a good variety for my wife and I to try. 4/5
Raw oysters - waiter mentioned they were brought in today so I assume they were local Venice oysters but they were delicious! Very meaty and sweet! Came on ice and only with lemons (and passionfruit??) But I wish it had other accompiments as in other countries. First time eating oysters in Italy so I figured the classic way is straight with lemon? I do prefer more brine to my oysters (best has to be in the west coast of British Columbia Canada) however these were easily number 2 on my list. 5/5
Mixed seafood pasta - this is where everything went downhill. Our original plan was to order two separate dishes but our waiter convinced (doing his job to upsell is fair game) us to order a special dish that contained both seafoods (and more) that we had in our original orders so we went with his suggestion. I'm not sure if it was a genuine suggestion or a way to get rid of older seafood (from other reviews it seems the suggestion technique is used often) but outside of the al dente pasta and mussels, all the other seafoods were almost trash in my opinion. The lobster meat was overcooked but almost mush in the claws which left me kind of concerned post-meal if it was dead already or frozen. The shrimp was exactly the same.. Being how expensive it was, I did my best to eat all the seafood but it wasn't an enjoyable experience. 2/5
Total bill was 185euros which did quite a dent, but I knew what I was signing up for when I saw the decor and menu prices. I also ordered a 2nd order of oysters as I'm a shmuck for them (truly delicious). I just wish that the whole experience was phenomenal for that price tag.
*to note, they have a display case of seafood outside and I pray its not what is served as the sun beams directly on it during certain hours and the ice is barely existent. *restaurant is also hot so I'm not sure how the cold bar setup they have for other seafoods is safe.. *AC room is available in the back, just ask and they...
Read moreWe found this place by chance, and I have to say food was just amazing. It wasn't cheap, and the board outside was a bit misleading, but you could really tell it was good quality food with very fresh seafood. Not the bread, though, it was stale and one of the crostini packages in the basket was even open and half eaten!
Also, we felt like the service was quite disappointing. They placed us in a table behind a few rows of people, and it seemed constantly like they had forgotten about us. The waiters kept on changing, so they didn't know what we had talked with the previous one, which made us have to repeat the same things over and over, and wait longer than necessary, as well as feel very nervous about our gluten free retirements.
And regarding choice, they were able to cater for gluten free, but it all seemed like an afterthought. The waiter made it seem like the person who was celiac was just picky and not having a medical condition, he mentioned just a couple dishes they could have, coincidentally including the most expensive one in the menu, and he forgot to mention that on the back of the menu there was the allergen chart, which indicated that the expensive dish indeed had gluten!
I would not recommend this place as a celiac friendly restaurant, there are much better ones in Venice, which even have GF bread, which I would have expected from this high-end restaurant, especially considering they did charge the full 3€/each of table service!
In any case, thanks to the wonderful cook! they did an amazing job with the tasty food and did guarantee a gluten-safe meal, despite the...
Read moreTotally not recommended. It was month ago when we visit that place and I still remember the bad attitude of the server. We came to try risotto but the waiter said he is not recommending that as is better to get fresh fish they serve. I don’t understand how you got something in your menu and you not recommend it. So why is there ?. Then I said after a think okey maybe we try those 2 dishes with that fish. And he was like ‚no no I don’t recommend that ‚ better is to get platter of fish . But platter was huge and it cost 60 e . I said sorry but it’s to big for us I wanted something different. You can see how he was not happy. I ask him can I got peroni beer please as well . Then he very rudely said to me taking menu from the table we sell different beers here and he go away. I was shock how you can firstly not recommend something what you got in the menu, pushing to buy only this fish platter cause is cost 60 e and then be loudly and visible be unhappy with you customers decisions. In the end is my money I wanted to spend for food I wanted to eat. I never did that before-I said you know actually we are going to change the restaurant for some nicer and more professional customer service and we left and he was shouting. Crazy. Never never again . That guy should find different profession in...
