Osteria Alla Tana — Restaurant in Venice

Nice quiet terrace in the shadow, which is what we picked it for. Seems perfect for a drink.

However, the waiter was uninterested. The only three words he said were ‘small, medium or large?’, when ordering an Aperol Spritz. A small one apparently costs 6€, and they give you some soft crisps to go with it. Even when asking for the bill he didn’t say a word.

With the table behind us, he had to go inside four times because there were items missing. Even then each time he only said ‘Oh’.

Toilets are bad. No seats, dirty, piss everywhere.

Inside I saw them filling the ‘good’ olive oil bottles with cheap oil from a massive plastic can you can buy at your local Aldi.

Though we didn’t eat here, looking at other people’s dishes, portions are enormous. So probably a good place to go to if...

Avoid this clip joint and go anywhere else. We picked it because of location and schedule but as soon as I opened them menu I knew we had made a mistake. All sauces came only on spaghetti, which no real Italian place would offer, and all the wines were listed by American grape names and there were no Italian wines. We settled for a couple of really mediocre sandwiches because we didn't trust anything else on the menu. I was leaned on twice by the waiter to pay in cash and I had to absolutely refuse and insist I didn't have enough cash to be allowed to charge it. DON'T stop here, please walk another 5 minutes to the area with many good restaurants. The only reason this place is still in business is that it is the first place on the way from Arsenale site. The service is very unpleasant and plainly rude. They brought us wrong food and then started to argue that this was our order.
