We were seated near the front door packed between three other tables. I actually had to move the entire table to accompany two from our party or we would be pushed into other diners.
This became problematic as the other tables turned over and the waiter several times had to push past my chair without a comment of excuse. Besides having to ask for our bread plates while the other tables around us received them like they should... we contented to keep our wine and first plates free from gnats that were attracted the the light inside this restaurant. No problem until you look at the ceiling and realize all those black specs are live bugs diving down on your meal and buzzing around your head.
Our first plates arrived and we're underwhelming for pasta which while in Italy you would expect the best. The Ravioli with duck and truffle was not good and *note no seasoning to mention it was black truffle oil ground duck (like if you made a crock of it in the morning and let it sit all day and laddled ontop like gruel.) Another family member was not impressed with their porcini and pasta. Second plates arrived with the first still on the table albeit finished, with a couple of chair knocks and gnats shooed away inbetween.
I then watched my parents stuggle with their lamb chop, and mixed grill respectively. They had to add their own salt and pepper, the meat was a mix of over and undercooked and at this time we were regretting not returning to the restaurant from the previous night. Would not recommend for anything.
There are too many nice restaurants here in Venice and this was the first time we could not search Trip advisor due to no cellular service. We all wished we had kept walking and not had wasted this last meal on such...
Read moreWe were lost in Venice on our first night in italy and walked past many restaurants searching for a particular restaurant that had been recommended to us. Being from Canada, we were told there were sitting fees and other charges at restaurants so we were leary as we were standing outside Anonimo Venezia, and a friendly man came out to greet us and chat. I asked him about extra charges. Aside from 12% service fee, there are no additional charges and prices were good at 10 to 18 euros. Menu looked like typical Italian food we would enjoy. From the minute we walked into this beautiful italian restaurant, we were introduced to the cook and then the entire family which we loved. We were treated like the cousins coming to visit. We thought that this treatment was special to us as my husband understands italian fluently but does not speak much italian. Turns out that they treat everyone as family as we witnessed three english women receiving the same amazing hospitality who had returned to this restaurant because of the great time they had there previously. Food was so well prepared and fresh. I had gnocchi with squash and chestnuts and seafood. My daughter had pizza and husband had spaghetti and seafood. We loved every bite. They even shared aperitifs and dannys wife had made some fresh italian cookies that we enjoyed thoroughly. Thankyou all very much for making our first night in Venice the time of our life. This restaurant is where the locals eat. I highly recommend everyone to visit Danny and his family who have all been in the restaurant business preparing italian food for...
Read moreBeware. The atmosphere and staff here are lovely. However, my wife is currently very sick after having the lasagna here last night. It was partially scorched / burnt on a section underneath, so most likely it was not cooked correctly. For anyone who has doubts. My wife and I share our food extensively, however I'm not a huge fan of lasagna, so the only food she had that I didn't sample was that lasagna. It may have been a once off, but it is inexcusable. For that I have left a 1 star rating in the hope that they will take note and do better in future. Edit to add: As the restaurant has responded, with doubts that it was because of them, allow me to add that we are both 100% certain, as we shared almost every meal we've eaten over the past week except the lasagna. Knowing that we are tourists and most likely having left the area, I find the offer the contact rhe restaurant ridiculous. However, I'll allow that it may be an issue with the...
