There is NO NEED to make a reservation!
The gondolas are operated by ONE company across Venice, if you arrive, you will see you can jump on a gondola at mostly all bridges across Venice, and it is ONE price! 90 Euros per day and 110 Euros everning, for 35 minutes!
This booking charges 140 euros for 30 minute evening rides! When making the call to clarify, the lady was very rude, in her own words “educating” that the 30 Euros is a fee for “making a booking” and it is a business decision NOT to disclose that 30 Euros is a booking fee because they don’t have to. She also noted that if you make a booking at a restaurant you will pay more, which is NOT the case. You can charge a cancelation fee, but you don’t pay MORE for the same food because you make a booking. And she “obviously” would not be making a refund or price match, a word she used throughout the phone call.
My advice to the business is either work with the gondola company to earn a commission off them, as your customers will see the standard price when they get to Venice. if this is not possible, you should disclose that it is a fixed standard price from the gondola service and you charge a fee to “secure” a private spot.
For visitors, again, the gondola services are everywhere at a standard price across Venice! There is no need to make a reservation to pay MORE for a lesser experience! Our gondola ride was only for 28 mins! Hope this helps...
Read moreIf you’re going to pay the money anyway, do it right. Find out what time the sun sets and try to take your tour then. We hired musicians and they made this an experience so much fun! We spoke no Italian and they no English, but somehow, music truly brought us together! I asked them to play lively and happy tunes and of course they obliged. everywhere we went our musicians got the applause they deserved and all the other passengers on the gondolas without the serenaders seemed to truly appreciate the break in their otherwise silent ride. Our gondolier was kind enough to point out some landmarks, so we are grateful for that. People say that you didn’t experience Venice if you didn’t take a gondola ride. I disagree. A simple gondola ride would have been a complete letdown for me. I would have been bored out of my mind!!! If you can, please do book the musicians. They are completely worth the good time!!!! Last but not least, if you are not coming at peak season, there is no need to prebook. There are many available and on standby — there is room to haggle. Thank you to the wonderful team from Gondolier Travels conveniently located In front of the...
Read moreFirst off, taking a gondola ride in Venice is a MUST. It is worth the hype. You have not fully experienced Venice until you have been on a gondola ride.
Second, all the Gondoliers around the city charge 90 euros for 30 minutes and double for one hour. This price is set by the city. I paid 225 euros for 1 hour online in an attempt to avoid chaos, pre-book, and streamline our time in Venice.
The Gondolier was friendly and pointed out about 5 different points of interest, including the college, the hotel where George Clooney stays, the Church, and the Guggenheim Museum. Although he was friendly, our ride was not 1 hr. long, but rather closer to 50 minutes. I looked at my phone the moment we arrived for our 5 pm reservation. 4:58. We did not arrive back at 5:58 but rather pulled into the vicinity and then floated in place from 5:46 until about 5:48, and then pulled in around 5:50 when our ride was completed. I am disappointed that I paid additional in hopes of securing a top-notch 1 hr. long gondola ride. We had a good gondolier, but the lack of getting the hour I paid for was a...
