We visited this restaurant in Venice with friends. Before entering, we asked why cacio e pepe wasn’t on the menu. The waiter told us it had nothing to do with the dish being Roman, but that they don’t serve it because it’s “not hygienic.” She claimed it’s made with the same cheese used in other dishes like carbonara and that it can cause digestive problems. She even warned us not to eat it elsewhere, saying, “You’ll get diarrhea.” This explanation felt both misleading and disrespectful toward Roman cuisine.
As for the food: I ordered spaghetti bolognese, which was actually tasty. However, my friend’s lasagna was clearly pre-cooked and reheated. Some edges were dry and overcooked. It was also served in a deep bowl, which is quite unusual for lasagna. Our glasses were chipped, which didn’t help the overall impression.
The man who seemed to be the head waiter acted rudely when I ordered water in Italian, asking mockingly, “Why are you speaking Italian?” It was surprising and disappointing to be treated that way in a local restaurant just for using the local language.
Overall, while the food was okay, the service and attitude left a bad taste. I wouldn’t...

Read moreThe staff was incredibly rude to me just for asking if I could use the restroom before ordering food. The woman who spoke to me appeared to be in her 40s—I unfortunately don’t know her name—but her behavior was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
She responded with a harsh tone, showed zero courtesy, and instead of explaining any policy calmly, acted as though I was disturbing her. To make things worse, she brought up personal and inappropriate topics, even making insulting comments involving family—completely unacceptable.
This kind of behavior unfortunately reinforces the negative stereotype some people have about Italians being rude or dismissive to outsiders. While I know that stereotypes aren’t always fair, experiences like this sadly give them weight. Hospitality should be about kindness and respect—this place failed miserably on...
