The moment we stepped in, we were met with thinly veiled skepticism rather than a warm welcome. Our waiter (mid aged bald man - sorry I don't know his name) seemed preoccupied with whether we could afford the bill, a notion that grew increasingly uncomfortable as the evening progressed. His demeanor soured further when we requested condiments to enhance our meal – a perfectly reasonable request that was met with unwarranted irritation. It was as if our desire to personalize our dishes was an inconvenience rather than a preference.
The food itself was satisfactory, if unmemorable. The fish sardines were adequately prepared, and the tiramisu offered a decent sweetness. The hot chocolate cake, while slightly dry, delivered a pleasant cocoa flavor. However, the lackluster service overshadowed any redeeming qualities the cuisine might have possessed.
Perhaps the most egregious incident occurred towards the start of our meal. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty, we were asked to move our bag off a chair to accommodate more guests. This request was not only unnecessary but also carried a tinge of disrespect, as if our comfort was secondary to potential patrons who hadn't even arrived - the restaurant was empty when we came.
The stark contrast in treatment became evident when another group entered the restaurant as we were leaving. Their warm reception, complete with offers of Wi-Fi and no invasive inquiries about their finances, highlighted the discriminatory undertones we had experienced. It was a disheartening realization that our patronage was valued less than that of others, simply because of our background.
The food, while decent, fails to compensate for the abysmal service and underlying prejudice. There are far better options in this vibrant city, places where both the cuisine and the hospitality are...
Read moreThis restaurant has been here for 53 years and owned by a very stylish and lively Nona. The food is VERY authentic Italian with several Venetian specialties. I wanted to eat gnocchi but I didn't like the plain sauce on the menu and they offered to make it with another sauce and recommended the seafood marinara which was fantastic. Great food, great service, shaded indoor amd outdoor sitting in a quieter side street very close to the busy areas. Has fans and air conditioning.
You almost miss it if you don't look walking towards a little bridge. I found it on Google maps looking 4+ star restaurants in Venice near where I was....
Read moreThe worst place in Venice! These people truly don't care about the customers as they have thousands of visitors daily. Here's the pic of pasta with tuna. Do you see any fish? I called the waiter and asked him where is tuna.. lol.. the answer was simple - this is our recipe ( I don't know what they consider to be tuna as I see no fish, only macaroni) and he wasn't even ashamed by my question. Ridiculous! AVOID BY ALL MEANS as there is no such thing as customer service. I also spent some time reading other reviews.. omg! Never seen such a place.. I wish I read the reviews before I stepped in to this awful place. Pizza...
