Ristorante Sempione — Restaurant in Venice

The restaurant is located amazing. In our first perspective, the atmosphere was really great and the balcony was one of the most romantic scenes I’ve ever been to. In the beginning they welcomed us very friendly. Unfortunately, things changed quickly.

Our welcome was amazing and the lovely waiter helped us perfectly to our table next the lovely balcony. After our welcome, the other waiter rushed a lot to forced us to leave the restaurant quickly. Because of our choice for just a main dish, the waiter wasn’t as friendly as in the beginning.

He forgot the sides as olive oil, salt etc as example. Our decision for the wine wasn’t good in his opinion: he strongly advice us to order a more expensive one. Also when we ordered the main dish he asked us three times if we would like to have a starter or side dish. I mentioned three times I’ll had enough, so he pushed it to far in our opinion.

I found this place via TikTok for its amazing location. In this perspective it definitely was, but that’s all you can expect.

After a quick break, he asked us to leave the table soon because of a new reservation. This was after just a hour of seating. They didn’t mention this at the time of making the reservation or entering the restaurant at all. The place wasn’t fully booked, half of it was empty seats.

Credits for who it deserves. The food was really great. We had the risotto and lasagne which were absolutely amazing. If the hospitality were from a higher level, it would definitely a 10 out of 10.

For the location with the view it’s a lovely restaurant, but for the service I would definite not recommend it to anyone. No thanks or goodbyes when we left the place. Hopefully others have better experiences...

I'll start by saying that it's a shame that the pasta we ordered was good and we would have liked to have ordered something else for sure, but the waiter's behavior made us not want to come back ever again. We made a reservation a month and a half in advance and requested a table by the window because that's the reason we came to Venice to enjoy the scenery. When we arrived, I was told that it wasn't possible because they didn't trust our reservation because we made a reservation for Sunday and we canceled and came back with another reservation for Saturday because our travel plans had changed. If we were not serious, we wouldn't have canceled anything and wouldn't have come, but that wasn't the case. Then we asked, even though you didn't reserve what we asked for, we would have to wait to receive what we reserved and the answer was that in 2 minutes everything would be full and it wasn't possible. In the next 20 minutes, someone came who asked if they had a table available at the window and they offered it. So a joke. I don't recommend going here if you want to...

I did make a reservation about 2to3 weeks before we got there, and did request the balcony table for my wife's 40th birthday. We didn't get a response back regarding the table and had seen other reviews saying that they don't reserve these tables. So we got there half an hour earlier just to check and was told the same, therefore we proceeded to wait, it was about half an hour luckily for us so about the time of my original booking. Anyway, after that, we got seated and had our meal. The atmosphere and ambience was amazing sitting by the canal, celebrating. The food on the other hand, wasn't a lot to shout about. They bring bread out but no butter or dipping sides. The starters were not cheap and the mains I had the prawns and had great taste, but the salmon was quite hard and still had some bones in there. Overall its not a cheap place which we knew, but the service was good, but by the end felt pressured to finish up and move out as apparently other people were waiting and the staff were...
