焼とり凡 母家 — Restaurant in Beppu

wow. This has to be one of the best dining experience I've had during this trip to Japan (from Hokkaido to Kyushu). We love yakitori so we asked the hotel concierge, and 焼とり凡 母家 was her top recommendation. We were very pleased with this choice. It was super clean. All the staff were super friendly and patient. While placing orders, the first waitress spoke English to us, and later, the second waitress made great effort to speak Mandarin to me. (first encounter ever, in my several years of traveling in Japan. and she spoke quite well). After a very satisfying meal, we got up and went to pay for the bill. The boss/manager at the cashier kindly reminded us that there is still one dish remained to been served (which we had completely forgotten), and offered to take it off our bill. We didn't want to waste the food since it's already been cooked and ready to serve. So the boss/manager offered it to us in a take-out box. And what a pleasant surprise it was when I took a first bite after I got back to my hotel room ! wow...this "grilled pork knuckle" was so delicious (seen in attached photo). If I knew it was this good I would had ordered more. But this was our only night in Beppu. So, to all of you reading this review,...

We had a great dinner. We could order with a QR code with an english menu and picters, so it wasn't a problem that we didn't speak japanese. We didn't have to wait long for the food and the food was delicious, especially the tofu salad. Also the yakitori were really tasty. We were the only touristes there at the moment in a full restaurant, which I'd guesse is also...

Great place. Big menu to choose from. Reasonably priced. Staff are very nice and friend to non Japanese speaking visitors. Pork trotter is so good. We came back to the second time.
