We actually used to really enjoy this shop but things seem to progressively have gotten worse, from service, to food quality.
Most recently - we went to order takeout during restrictions that kept us from dining in. I pulled in and walked up to the window. There were 5 people who had already placed orders and were waiting in their vehicles. I was the only one waiting at the window to order. I could see the staff were busy so I wasn't impatient. One of the staff walked by the window, stopped to look at me briefly and then kept walking. I waited for 10 min to simply place an order. Surprisingly, only one other person walked up behind me this entire time. But not once did a staff member stop to acknowledge me or say they would be back in a minute. They just kept walking back and forth working on other tasks and orders and I waited patiently (because it was the one meal my spouse had asked to have that whole week).
When the staff finally did come to the window to take my order she was curt and borderline rude to me. I gave my order and tried to be friendly but she wanted nothing to do with the friendly conversation so I finished the order, paid and stepped back thinking she was just busy. Imagine my surprise when she was friendly and chatty with the customer who had been standing behind me in line.
My order came and once I got home with it I noticed that the "side item" (being tortilla chips) each only had two chips in the bags. Literally, exactly two chips. Slightly insulting. Why even bother putting the chips in the bag at all.
This experience was just the most recent off putting experience. The staff have all grown this awful, incensed attitudes, the food quality control has diminished since we first started going. We don't believe we'll return. There are a number of other good tex mex style shops in Okinawa that are happy to have...
Read moreThey have a free salsa and soup bar. This is a great place to take vegans/vegetarians as they had multiple vegan options.
Inside there's a few different kinds of seating. I like the long couch like things where we could kind of sink in. They have regular tables with a mix of chairs. There is also a patio outside with an eclectic mix of chairs.
Service was generally very friendly, they forgot. One thing I ordered and ended up comping me for it. They didn't charge me for it either originally so they just gave it to me which I appreciate. We did insist on paying and the insisted on us not paying.
Carnivore bowl 4.5 stars It was delicious, but maybe because I'm an American eater, I felt like I needed a bit more. The sauce was a bit blander than I would have liked but the meat was seasoned well.
2 steak tacos 4 stars Good solid option but I'd rather get the bowl.
Pineapple soda 5 stars I really liked this drink. I do have an affinity for pineapple however so I'm biased.
Home made ginger ale 4 stars Between the pineapple soda at a ginger ale, the pineapple soda was a clear winner for me. Maybe because I just don't like ginger ale enough? I mean I do order it on the plane so it's not like a dislike it but the pineapple are just stood out way more for me personally. If you want something different and not, I'll call it, this is a still a great choice
Parking is available outside in a small private lot. Actually. I'm not sure how private it is because there may be other businesses on top of the building? I don't think it's shared but...
Read moreA local legendary spot, this is a place known for its Vegan Mexican food, but it serves many non-Vegan foods as well! The Atmosphere is cozy and warm, has a fun design, and good music. Definitely a nice place to relax and enjoy high quality Mexican food while getting that “coffee shop vibe”.
They are most famous for their Tacos. The tortillas are flour based, incredibly soft and airy—they have a handmade and fire heated quality to them. Light, floury on the outside, but sturdy with a delicious soft chew within the airy texture. The chorizo is shredded tofu, but has the same taste and consistency as regular chorizo, but with none of the fatty oil/grease that normal chorizo has! Salsa’s are completely solid and authentic—feels like you’re back in your local Tacoria in the states
The “vegan” tacos are actually quite amazing and refreshing. They honestly taste like normal tacos, and don’t feel pretentious or overly fake. I would not be able to tell that these were “vegan” on a blind taste test.
While you pay closer to US prices for each Taco, the quality of preparation and of taste more than satisfies the cost! Overall an incredibly delicious experience, and...
