A friend recommended for us to try Flex and we were not disappointed. We really loved the decor and the atmosphere. Great music. Great furnishings. A visual dive into an island- Jamaican-surf-tropical setting. The food was well-proportioned and tasty. We shared the chicken curry with rice and the jerk pork with festival. The curry has a nicd mix of flavors. The pork could've been a tiny bit more smoky-seasoned in flavor. The best food: the fried chicken. Cooked to perfection. Juicy and moist inside and a nice crunchy batter outside. We had it as an appetizer. We finished with a rum and banana bread and some coconut ice cream. The best overall: the service. A full wait, bar, bus, and kitchen staff of local young men and women that provided top-level service. A nice combo of the island-Uchinaanchu style woven into a beachside Jamaican restaurant and bar theme. We added a Tamba (Kaua'i surf) sticker to the door, had a nice talk with our server, and we promised to come...
Read moreAs a Jamaican and someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry, there are a few things of note that I’d like to mention. First, the atmosphere was chic and chill. It was giving real “yawd” vibes - which is a major plus. Second, the service was quick despite the house being packed when I arrived. I have to commend the staff on that front. However when it comes to the food, the authenticity and flavours were lacking. I ordered the oxtail and curry goat. Both dishes, to me, appeared to be watered-down a great deal. I don’t know if this was done to suit the “Japanese palate” but it was certainly not the flavours of the foods which I grew up on. Lastly, the festival can only be described as a mouth full of oil. I think this restaurant has potential. The reviews of others were enough to have me fly out to Okinawa to give them a try but until they do something to boost the flavour profile of their current offerings the restaurant will be forever far from the...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite restaurant in Chatan and one of my favorite Jamaican restaurants in Okinawa. I visit here at least 3 times a month because I enjoy it that much. It is priced fairly, but once you savor the flavor you will believe it to be a great price! The staff is friendly, hospitable, and work hard. My favorite meal is the Jerk Chicken Plate with the salad and rice. I get the garlic bread as well. My adult beverage is their Hennessy and lemonade! I usually have about 4 to 5 of those which makes for a costly bill, around 6,000 Yen. The atmosphere has good vibes as there is a nice aroma of food in the air and the Jamaican music playing in the background. They have indoor and outdoor seating for those enjoy the weather and want to see a vibrant sunset. I recommend placing this restaurant on your list of places to visit while in Okinawa. You will not regret it, only if don’t go. I hope that you enjoy...
