とん太郎 — Restaurant in Fujikawaguchiko

If you want to spend a lot of money on tiny, not good quality (yes, I’ve been to Korea so I know the food), and a waitress with an “attitude” then go... we personally felt not only hungry, if not like she ripped off us. We order the Korean barbecue which in the menu shows 2 prices, the first price is for minimum 2 person and the photo shows 4 long pieces of meat and kimchi combo, the second shows another different kimchi combo.... we clearly order the first one only (same as the table next to us). The table next to us recieved it as the photo, ours was already cut in pieces, and they looked like the left over parts, if u put all the empieces together you would not make 4 of the pieces shown on the picture and like the ones the table next to us got... and then she brought the kimchi combo without saying anything. When we went to pay, the kimchi combo was added to the count, so it was 1,300 x 2 + 860 from the kimchi combo... She handed us a number with no details but because we had the count mentally it was the only option: the combo was added to our sum ... We couldn’t even see how much taxes was she charging us. The food is good, but the staff are unfriendly and unprofessional. We did not feel welcome or wanted here at all.

Upon arriving, they told us we could only eat here as long as we finish within an hour (with no explanation why). They seated us at a table, we sat there for about 15 minutes, and then they made us get up and move to another table, again with no explanation. Very frustrating. We noticed that all of the tables around us were given wet hand towels as soon as they were seated, except for us. We had to ask for towels when our food was served, and even then the staff handled it very passive-aggressively.

We spoke only Japanese to the staff and were quiet and respectful, so I have no idea what warranted such rude behavior on their part.

The food was good at least. We ordered the cheese jijimi and cheese tteokbokki and both were great. But ultimately, the poor service just really ruined our experience.

Be aware that smoking is allowed here. I didn’t notice any signs indicating this, but it may be...

1- To be fair the food was delicious thus this review 2- This is closer to a cantine ( canteen, mess,...) run by middle aged and elderly korean women than a restaurant 3- service was very unprofessional, some tables were used has preparation and cutting tables, so basically the extension of the kitchen, 4- size of meat order was not as expected 5- they mixed our order and brought us something we didn't order of course we asked it to be returned however we dind't have any mean to check it it was billed to us as she just handed us a number scribbled on a piece of paper...
