I cannot speak for the food as I was not able to eat but: I came during dinner hours, 8:50pm, they close at 10pm. The restaurant was not full, yet waitress told me that they would only take appointments. I asked how I could make an appointment since it’s not possible on their website, I walked all the way to the restaurant. She said the options for reservations were Instagram and telephone. Since I am a foreign visitor my phone doesn’t work in Japan. I asked if I could make the appointment in person instead of by telephone since I was already there, and she first seemed surprised then asked how many people. When I said it was just me she frowned and asked manager. I guess we single/solo clients are not good bussiness for the restaurant??!, yet they had empty tables. She then came back to tell me that tonight I could stay but I could only eat meat and they had nothing else on their varied menu for me . Hmmm, surprising, right? I asked if everybody else in the restaurant was also only eating that one meat dish.. She stated that they could eat à la carte but I could only “eat one meat”. Thankfully they had an English menu as I was reading the カタカナ really slowly with my rusty Japanese. We had mushroom soup and chicken liver pate with bread rolls for starters and both were excellent - the soup was smooth and tasty while we spread the creamy paté generously on the bread rolls and gobbled them down.
The mains did not disappoint as well - the perfectly done Rump steak was tender and flavorful but Adult Hamburg stuffed with foie gras and served with cheesy gratin was the highlight! The chef recommended chestnut pie for desserts and it was amazing - Flaky pastry with chestnut filling, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
We enjoyed the dinner immensely even though there was some waiting time as clearly the food were made with care. The ambience was cosy with...
