Parked at their area around 6:30 am, no one was there, no sign, we didn't even know what is this place, just saw the other cars park here so thought it would be fine.
We walked around the maple tunnel and the lake then came back to the car around 8:00 am. While driving out, there was the angry/moody/grumpy small ojisan running after our car and hit the car with his orange baton (just like Oni in japanese folklore). It's rental car so we were so frustrated.
We were already on the road so I parked again on the opposite side to talk and finding out what this is all about . Finally, it's all about the parking fee he's after .... we gave him 1000 yen and the oni gone. Don't understand why he need to attack and didn't show up when anyone is parking.

Everything felt quite rushed, we received a brief five-minute explanation, made our matcha in about three minutes and that was it. Oddly enough, a lot more time was spent promoting the gift shop. I would have liked to learn more about the ceremony itself and the history of matcha.
After the ceremony, we were directed straight into the gift shop, which spans two floors and was crowded with people. Most of the items for sale had little to do with matcha or traditional Japanese souvenirs. There were buses full of tourists here so it really felt like a tourist trap.
