During our day trip to Mount Fuji we made a stop at Shikido for a tea ceremony. Everything felt quite rushed, we received a brief five-minute explanation, made our matcha in about three minutes and that was it. Oddly enough, a lot more time was spent promoting the gift shop. I would have liked to learn more about the ceremony itself and the history of matcha. After the ceremony, we were directed straight into the gift shop, which spans two floors and was crowded with people. Most of the items for sale had little to do with matcha or traditional Japanese souvenirs. There were buses full of tourists here so it really felt like a tourist trap. It was a bit of a disappointing experience.

Shikido offers an incredible experience for tea enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The lecture about tea is both fascinating and informative, giving you a deeper appreciation for the art and culture of tea-making. Right outside, there's a lovely park with food vendors serving delicious treats, perfect for a quick snack or meal. From there, you can take a leisurely walk by the lake, soak in the serene atmosphere, and snap photos with the stunning view of Mount Fuji as a breathtaking backdrop. It’s a perfect blend of cultural learning and natural beauty.

Nice shop to stop by, buy some tax free stuff, have a 🍵 tee experience, use the toilet. Right behind this building you have a nice view of Mount Fuji. Not sure how to arrange the tea ceremony for individual since we were there with a day tour departing from Tokyo. Easy Go company.

Parked at their area around 6:30 am, no one was there, no sign, we didn't even know what is this place, just saw the other cars park here so thought it would be fine.

We walked around the maple tunnel and the lake then came back to the car around 8:00 am. While driving out, there was the angry/moody/grumpy small ojisan running after our car and hit the car with his orange baton (just like Oni in japanese folklore). It's rental car so we were so frustrated.

We were already on the road so I parked again on the opposite side to talk and finding out what this is all about . Finally, it's all about the parking fee he's after .... we gave him 1000 yen and the oni gone. Don't understand why he need to attack and didn't show up when anyone is parking.

I search internet a bit and found this place sells duty free goods and they only...
