The worst hotel in the La Vista chain so far. Service is very bad. Front desk service for room assignment and bedroom cleaning service are very bad. Do not come here.

I booked a 2 nights stay at La Vista Fuji Kawaguchiko to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room at the ground floor (Rm 106). My daughter who booked the same time and paid around the same price (SGD 430 a night) got a higher floor at the 4th level with a spacious room. Mine was a smaller room and on the 1st level. I asked the front desk staff (Dona Achini) why the difference but was told that there were 2 types of rooms: Rose and La Vista. But these were not indicated on the Agoda App! In addition, I have made a request on the Agoda App to have a room on the high floor and a good view. The 1st floor was not high and certainly the view was bad. My daughter did not choose any of the room types but was given a larger room. The next excuse they gave was that room allocation is the decision of the hotel. They can allocate the room to you as they like. But then, this defies the logic of paying the same price for the room.

After I have taken the key (which was one only even though my wife was with me), they called me back again and gave me a higher & a more spacious room (Rm 308)!

After we have happily settled into our new room, the next day we went out and upon our return, the room was still not clean at 6pm! We asked to see the person-in-charge (Mr Akiyoshi Watanabe). We asked him why the room was not clean and they told us that we have indicated to not do any cleaning! But the only conversation we have with them on that morning was to pick us from the train station at a later time. There was no conversation on room cleaning. They wanted to give us an upgrade to a new room but we refused because we are comfortable with what they have given us and also, on principle, we do not want to give the impression that we complain to get an upgrade. We are happy with what is due to us and we just wanted them to clean up our room!

I think the front desk service is below standard. We have stayed in other La Vista hotels like La Vista Daisetsuzan & La Vista Hakodate Bay and have no such issues. Even in their lower hotel chain like Dormy Inn, we have no problem at all. This is perhap unique to this particular hotel.

The price is high, the breakfast is average (even compare with the Dormy Inn) and the onsen is very average. It is definitely not...

Overall review: Wow. 5 star hotel for the cost of a 3 star! Magnifique!

My wife and I stayed at the La Vista for four nights recently and it will be an experience we'll never forget. From check in to check out, we cannot fault this hotel. We have some minor suggestions for management to consider, but overall we're two very satisfied guests.

The La Vista is located atop a mountainside on the northern side of the largest lake. I would argue this hotel has the best view of any hotel in the area. Be sure to book a room with a view! There are rooms that do not have a view of Fuji, and so if you're coming here you'll sorely be missing out. The view is spectacular, and you needn't ever leave your room. Our room came with a tub with a full floor to ceiling view of Fuji. Absolutely spectacular. We were lucky enough to have clear weather each day. Marvellous.

The buffet breakfast is also very good. I will note that it is a Japanese style buffet breakfast and so it would appeal more to Japanese guests. However, there are items that westerners would also enjoy, e.g smoked salmon, soup, scrambled eggs, rice etc.

Highly recommend you include breakfast and dinner in your booking. Dining options are limited in the area and so you should be dining at the hotel morning and night. The night dinner is fantastic. They have two options of al a carte, western or Japanese. We had each and were blown away by each. This hotel is classified as 3 star, but I consider their dining standard to be very close to 5 star. Including breakfast and dinner is essential.

The hotel also provides 4 or 5 private spas which guests can use at their leisure. They are each themed and can be used for as long as guests want. The doors lock and the 'in use' light will turn on as soon as you lock the door. For management's consideration, the water is quite hot the point of being a little uncomfortable. I would recommend an option for guests to set their own temperature, or have each spa with a cooler and hotter temperature.

A comment not related to La Vista, for guests who are considering taking the site seeing bus tour, we don't think it's worth it. If you do wish to do it, purchase the 1,500 package as it's cheaper than taking a round trip on even one bus. The blue route is least scenic, so recommend you take the red or green. In all honesty, your view from your own room will...

There are so many things to like about this hotel but they are more than offset by the negatives. |The best things about the hotel was the nice location set at the end of a private road with unbeatable views of Mt Fuji. It was a beautifully decorated and appointed hotel with French styling. Courteous and helpful staff. There was also plenty of parking.|The other highlight was the Petite Poche Restaurant. Room rates were typically half board which included a multiple course dinner each evening and you could choose either Western or Japanese styled menus. The dining room had lovely views and you could watch Mt Fuji in the setting sun. Note that they have two fixed sittings at 5.30 and 7.30 and you have to book each night.|Alas other aspects of the stay did not meet expectations. We had room 613 which was like a small apartment but a bit cluttered with furniture. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the single pillow flat as a tack and a small square. There were no spare pillows. The bathroom was decent with separate toilet and shower and there was a large bath which had an overly complicated 3 step system to filling it up. There was plenty of bench space and powerpoints. The room included free water and fanta in the mini bar and a welcome cookie each day. The towels were thin, the wifi slow and there were very limited TV channels. Whilst we were there it was quite warm and we discovered that the air conditioner was on a timer that cut out every 3 hours. This made it very warm and uncomfortable during the night which ruined our sleep. |Breakfast was a disaster. It did not start until 7am by which time huge crowds had already gathered and they quickly overran the open buffet with little regard for others or hygiene. It resulted in us not being able to enjoy breakfast. So much so that on the second morning we departed and made our own breakfast arrangements.|This is an expensive area to stay in and whilst you are paying for excellent views of Mt Fuji and the lake it does not take away from the poor quality...

We chose this place because of the views and their website said they catered to vegans and vegetarians. They don't. I was told I could pick the veg items off the set menu plates. I asked them to not bring me anything with meat but on that plate you can see horse, chicken, pig and fish, and that was one of eight. We are lucky we hired a car because the hotel is a long way from shops and restaurants. There are a lot of rules here. You can miss dinner if you don't book early enough the day before even if it's paid for. There's no room service. For international guests it's very challenging. The button in the bathroom once pressed cannot be stopped until the bath is completely filled. Might as well be a light switch. You can't take drinks from the bar when it's open, either to the restaurant or to your room. Parking is plentiful. The staff are typically very polite as always. If they agree with you, don't assume they understood you at all. Breakfast is pseudo Western but largely meat, dairy and egg offerings. No soy milk. I love Japanese vegan food but some of our party just wanted a decent coffee and toast. I enjoyed tofu, rice, sesame seeds and a range of pickles, plus fresh fruit and a rosemary bun with vegemite I brought along. The bath house is excellent. Nudity is mandatory but not unusual for Japan. Just enjoy the soaking in hot water while viewing the view of Mt Fuji. Everything you need is supplied. Private hot baths, segregated communal baths, a cold plunge alcove, salt sauna, cedar sauna and a couple of balcony outdoor soak tubs. Complimentary fruit ices also. Overall, it's nice but it oversells itself online and can't deliver what's promised always. The distance from amenities, while being very strict about meals creates great inconvenience. They eventually refunded meals but that's the least they could do considering it was up to us to then go find food in a vegan ambivalent town.

I had the pleasure of staying at an amazing hotel located next to Mt. Fuji. I wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the relaxing experience. The hotel is located a bit far away, but that gives you a full view of the majestic Mt. Fuji, which is absolutely breathtaking. My room had an outdoor bathtub, which allowed me to take a bath while enjoying the stunning view. It was an unforgettable experience that I will always cherish. Additionally, the hotel had two hot spring baths, a private and a public bath. I tried the private bath, which had five different rooms, all with unique designs. I picked the bamboo and Bedrock bath, which was so relaxing that it relieved all my stress and muscle pain. The dinner and breakfast were included, and they also had complementary light meals and midnight ramen. Unfortunately, I was so relaxed after my bath that I fell asleep before trying the midnight ramen. The dinner was excellent, with a choice between waygu beef or slow-cooked venison. They also had a lot of local sake to try out, which was a unique experience. The hotel's service was top-notch, even by Japan's high customer service standards. They went above and beyond to make sure that I had everything I needed and more. Their attention to detail and level of service were exceptional. In conclusion, I can't wait to revisit the hotel again next year. The location, the view, the food, the hot spring baths, and the exceptional service made for an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Great views and excellent onsen. The check in is disappointing not Japan warm as expected: told to use the q scan for info. The room is super small but pretty. Stunning Mt. Fuji views and bathtub on balcony. No room for luggage but a closet for hanging essentials. Tiny bathroom but very clean with nice products. There are some great plusses and some major misses. 1. Can’t beat the views 2. Lovely onsen 3. Comfy super lux bed comforter 4. Good bathroom basics and very clean 5. Balcony bathtub is great 6. Nice slippers and lounge wear Bad: 1. Up a hill no shuttle down 20-30 min walk not for handicapped or anyone who can’t do hills and long walk to go to cute small town : need to call a taxi? 2. NO LUNCH should you arrive hungry and can’t walk downhill you’re out of luck 3. Towels are basic and small 3. Small beds are hard for tall people and very narrow so good for new couples or tiny people 4. The set dinners for us were bad and the need to present a coupon before admitted to eat must set time and leave by time (feel Like a cafeteria not the lux they’re going for). 5. We passed on the second prepaid meal…was not fresh… felt like they premade it hours or days before presentation nice taste blech. 6. Coupons/ credit card for wine taste locked behind glass and key: and then pour is the smallest on earth a huge pass So we loved some and really were turned off by other things. The hotel is great for a short stay to see Mt. Fuji and use the onsen. 2 days is a good goal. Eat outside in the village and prepare for no lunch is the way to go.
