day 1 after landing in japan,fukuoka, i stumbled upon a cozy little café for breakfast, coffee, and a quick smoke. To my surprise, two kind grandmothers were running the place. They served me a canelé and spoke slowly and gently, knowing my Japanese wasn’t very good. It was such a heartwarming moment.

Before leaving for Kyoto a couple of days later, I visited again for a cup of hot chocolate. This time, they gifted me some boiled corn,completely unexpected and so touching 🥹

There’s something so special about how warmly they welcomed me, speaking so politely and kindly to a foreigner.

Please take care of yourselves. I promise, if I ever land my first job in Japan, I’ll come back every month just to enjoy your hot...
