Service was good, but the food was just okay to subpar. The pizza was slightly better than school cafeteria pizza.

This is an establishment that caters to dates, group dates, and girls-only outings, so they feature all-you-can-drink specials, and food is not really the focus. If I had known that from the reviews, I wouldn't have gone here on a Sunday night with my family.

They also added an additional charge for dining in on a weekend (which they did tell us about but not until we sat down after nearly 20 minutes of waiting for a table) and added an extra dish on our bill without us asking for it (pickled quail eggs for ¥480 x2, but apparently this isn't out of the ordinary for izakaya-style restaurants).

All in all, if you're looking to drink a lot and load up on carbs, you could do worse, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for decent Italian or dining...

福岡出張の夜、会社の合宿メンバーと訪れたのは「margo 天神大名店」。 西通り沿いのビル7階、照明を落とした隠れ家のような空間。 カジュアルさの中に、どこか品のあるバルの空気が漂っている。

まずはシーザーサラダから。 ロメインレタスに、削りたてのチーズを“ストップ”と言うまでかけてもらう快感。 どこか少年心をくすぐる演出で、乾杯のビールが一段とうまく感じた。

鴨のフルーツマリネは、グレープフルーツの酸味とバルサミコのコクが絶妙。 ハモンセラーノ盛り合わせも迫力があり、酒と語らう夜にぴったりだった。

中でも印象的だったのが、Margo特製溶岩ミートパスタ。 その名の通り、熱々の皿から溢れ出すミートソースの濃厚さに心を奪われる。 ビールとの相性も完璧で、合宿の疲れが一気に吹き飛んだ。

半熟卵と生ハムの贅沢ビスマルクピザにはたっぷりのチーズが舞い、 フォアグラユッケにも追いチーズがかけ放題。 “背徳”という言葉を美味で表現したような料理たち。

そして、ポルチーニの香り豊かなポタージュパイ。 パイを割った瞬間に立ち上る芳醇な香りは、もはや演出の域。 締めには、ヘルシーで爽やかな自家製ミルクアイスを。 火照った体に心地よく染み渡った。

仲間と語らい、グラスを重ね、笑い合う。 “大衆イタリアン”の肩書きを軽やかに超えた、洒脱な夜だった。
