Staying at The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka was an absolute dream. I booked their Premium 1 King Bay View Room (50sqm), and from the moment I walked in, I was struck by how beautifully designed it was. Having also stayed at The Ritz Carlton Nikko, I learned the same designer was behind both properties and you can truly feel that signature sophistication. The muted luxury, the subtle mix of wood and marble, and the Japanese modern understated elegance made the whole space feel serene yet elevated.
My room being a corner bay view made it even more special. The sweeping views of the city, with Fukuoka Tower and the surrounding skyline right in sight, were breathtaking. Since the hotel sits in the tallest building in the area, everything else feels small beneath you, which makes the view even more expansive.
I also had the once in a lifetime chance to experience The Ritz Carlton Suite, the hotel’s equivalent of a presidential suite. At 188sqm, it is vast and beautifully detailed, complete with a full kitchen, dining room for eight, separate living, study, and even a reception style guest space. The suite design is understated but rich in detail, with natural woods, curated books on Japanese culture, and a stunning oval bathtub that overlooks Hakata Bay. It was so spacious and elegant that I was truly speechless, it felt more like a luxury residence than a hotel suite.
For dining, I tried Genjyu, which offers teppanyaki, sushi, and kaiseki. On the first night I went for sushi, which was exquisite, and on the second night I indulged in their kaiseki course, each dish presented like art and showcasing seasonal flavors.
Breakfast at Viridis was another highlight, buffet selections were extensive and beautifully presented in a dining space that felt both modern and calming. And then there was BAY, the rooftop bar on the 24th floor. With its panoramic views, stylish design, and expertly crafted cocktails (I tried the signature YOU and Black Diamond), it was the perfect setting to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.
The wellness facilities were equally impressive. A 24 hour gym, spa with steam and dry saunas, and a top floor indoor pool surrounded by windows offering 270° views of the city, absolutely stunning. Swimming with the city skyline stretching around you was unforgettable.
Service, as expected from Ritz Carlton, was flawless. Every staff member I encountered was polished, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, making every interaction a pleasure.
The location is also perfect, close to Hakata Station and the airport, while right by Tenjin, the city’s premier shopping district (the “Ginza of Fukuoka”). It’s also near Maizuru and Ohori Park, the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, and even some local gems like the original Ippudo store and a nearby cat café.
Everything about this hotel was perfection, the design, the views, the dining, the service, the amenities. The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka effortlessly blends modern Japanese elegance with the warmth of Kyushu hospitality. Truly an unforgettable stay, and one I would recommend to anyone looking for...

Read moreEverything about The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka is excellent. This was my first experience at any Ritz Carlton. The moment you walk through the first floor you feel a sense of luxury. The lobby to the hotel is actually on the 18th floor. Check in was very smooth. Everyone we encountered were very nice and respectful.||I did have an issue with our first room and I reached out to management. They connected me with Saida, Director of Guest Service and Loyalty. I explained my situation with the room and our first breakfast experience and it was corrected immediately. This was actually my birthday and she went out of her way to make my birthday special with a lovely piece of chocolate cake and rose petals. This was a very nice touch to my birthday trip that I was not expecting. ||The room was absolutely breathtaking. The views were spectacular that we didn't want to leave. ||The hotel is in the Tenjin area, which is a great place to stay, as shopping is very near, as well as subway transportation within a 5 minute walk. It is the only 5-Star hotel in the Fukuoka area. It is also about a 15 min walk to the lovely Ohori Park, with the Fukuoka Castle Ruins.||We had ventured out on a day trip to Nagasaki to visit the atomic bomb museium and I had lost my bag charm, a cute Monchichi dressed in a bee costume. I thought since the Japanese are very honest and turn items in that are found, I should see if the concierge could help call the museum and see if anyone turned it in. Since my Japanese is limited, Nami assisted me in calling the museum and unfortunately no one turned it in. On our last night at the hotel, I found a lovely note with a hand drawn Monchichi in the bee costume and an exclusive Japan only Monchichi handkerchief. That really touched my heart and I was in tears that she was so caring to let me know that she was sorry that my bag charm could not be found. What a lovely touch to end our stay in this wonderful and luxurious hotel. | ||Thank you to these lovely individuals: (I'm sorry if I didn't get everyone's name that made our stay very memorable)||1.
