Staying at The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka was an absolute dream. I booked their Premium 1 King Bay View Room (50sqm), and from the moment I walked in, I was struck by how beautifully designed it was. Having also stayed at The Ritz Carlton Nikko, I learned the same designer was behind both properties and you can truly feel that signature sophistication. The muted luxury, the subtle mix of wood and marble, and the Japanese modern understated elegance made the whole space feel serene yet elevated.

My room being a corner bay view made it even more special. The sweeping views of the city, with Fukuoka Tower and the surrounding skyline right in sight, were breathtaking. Since the hotel sits in the tallest building in the area, everything else feels small beneath you, which makes the view even more expansive.

I also had the once in a lifetime chance to experience The Ritz Carlton Suite, the hotel’s equivalent of a presidential suite. At 188sqm, it is vast and beautifully detailed, complete with a full kitchen, dining room for eight, separate living, study, and even a reception style guest space. The suite design is understated but rich in detail, with natural woods, curated books on Japanese culture, and a stunning oval bathtub that overlooks Hakata Bay. It was so spacious and elegant that I was truly speechless, it felt more like a luxury residence than a hotel suite.

For dining, I tried Genjyu, which offers teppanyaki, sushi, and kaiseki. On the first night I went for sushi, which was exquisite, and on the second night I indulged in their kaiseki course, each dish presented like art and showcasing seasonal flavors.

Breakfast at Viridis was another highlight, buffet selections were extensive and beautifully presented in a dining space that felt both modern and calming. And then there was BAY, the rooftop bar on the 24th floor. With its panoramic views, stylish design, and expertly crafted cocktails (I tried the signature YOU and Black Diamond), it was the perfect setting to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.

The wellness facilities were equally impressive. A 24 hour gym, spa with steam and dry saunas, and a top floor indoor pool surrounded by windows offering 270° views of the city, absolutely stunning. Swimming with the city skyline stretching around you was unforgettable.

Service, as expected from Ritz Carlton, was flawless. Every staff member I encountered was polished, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, making every interaction a pleasure.

The location is also perfect, close to Hakata Station and the airport, while right by Tenjin, the city’s premier shopping district (the “Ginza of Fukuoka”). It’s also near Maizuru and Ohori Park, the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, and even some local gems like the original Ippudo store and a nearby cat café.

Everything about this hotel was perfection, the design, the views, the dining, the service, the amenities. The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka effortlessly blends modern Japanese elegance with the warmth of Kyushu hospitality. Truly an unforgettable stay, and one I would recommend to anyone looking for...

Just when I thought service couldn’t get any better along comes the All New Ritz Carlton Fukuoka!!! This was my 19th Ritz Carlton and 150th Marriott property I’ve stayed at. I know good service and I know great service and I know PERFECT service! And this property has as close to perfect service I’ve seen! Everything I look for was met and exceeded! I had so many expectations and concerns before arrival as we went to Japan just to visit this hotel. From the moment we stepped on property to the moment we left everything exceeded all my high expectations. They truly took care of us every moment.||From the moment we arrived Isamu took great care of our bags and was so interested in us and to help us! This was the first impression and it was everything I hoped for. You would be surprised the Ritz Carlton’s that don’t have good first impressions and sometimes no one at front doors!||When we arrived in the lobby we’re greeted by Cisse who made us feel so welcome showing us to the outside patio to view the sunset. Followed by check in with Sanjay! Sanjay was the highlight of our stay, thank you for all you did making us feel so special and like family. From checking us in, showing us to the room, the special treat, the hotel tour, to even saying goodby when we checked out we will never forget you. ||The exterior and interior designs of this property are mind blowing! Wow! No detail was left out! So beautiful everywhere you look. Same designer as Ritz Carlton Nikko which is another exceptional property. The Ritz Fukuoka has gorgeous rooms you won’t want to leave, they are so comfortable and provide every amenity for a pleasant stay.||Breakfast was fantastic such personalized service. Shiho the breakfast manager does a fantastic job and has a caring team. Mayumi and Sofia really stood out and we’re so pleasant to visit with and provided one of the best breakfast experiences ever!||Also want to thank Renjaro for the great sushi spot recommendations! Also thank you Chihiro and Hana for amazing service. Also to Sunil and Taka, who all took interest in us during time passing through lobby. Special thank you to Saida for the special treats, wow, that was so kind of you!!||Check out was also incredible! Thank you Nacho for visiting with us!! You are the best. Wish we had more time during our stay to see you. And thank you to anyone I may have missed I did not meet a single staff member that was not kind and caring. ||We already miss you all and our wonderful stay. The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka is by far one of the best Ritz Carlton’s in the world and one of the best hotels in general. It is rare to find such excellent, caring service, along with a BEAUTIFUL designed NEW hotel that offers inspiration...

Everything about The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka is excellent. This was my first experience at any Ritz Carlton. The moment you walk through the first floor you feel a sense of luxury. The lobby to the hotel is actually on the 18th floor. Check in was very smooth. Everyone we encountered were very nice and respectful.||I did have an issue with our first room and I reached out to management. They connected me with Saida, Director of Guest Service and Loyalty. I explained my situation with the room and our first breakfast experience and it was corrected immediately. This was actually my birthday and she went out of her way to make my birthday special with a lovely piece of chocolate cake and rose petals. This was a very nice touch to my birthday trip that I was not expecting. ||The room was absolutely breathtaking. The views were spectacular that we didn't want to leave. ||The hotel is in the Tenjin area, which is a great place to stay, as shopping is very near, as well as subway transportation within a 5 minute walk. It is the only 5-Star hotel in the Fukuoka area. It is also about a 15 min walk to the lovely Ohori Park, with the Fukuoka Castle Ruins.||We had ventured out on a day trip to Nagasaki to visit the atomic bomb museium and I had lost my bag charm, a cute Monchichi dressed in a bee costume. I thought since the Japanese are very honest and turn items in that are found, I should see if the concierge could help call the museum and see if anyone turned it in. Since my Japanese is limited, Nami assisted me in calling the museum and unfortunately no one turned it in. On our last night at the hotel, I found a lovely note with a hand drawn Monchichi in the bee costume and an exclusive Japan only Monchichi handkerchief. That really touched my heart and I was in tears that she was so caring to let me know that she was sorry that my bag charm could not be found. What a lovely touch to end our stay in this wonderful and luxurious hotel. | ||Thank you to these lovely individuals: (I'm sorry if I didn't get everyone's name that made our stay very memorable)||1. Remi- Registration|2. Nami- Concierge|3. Saida- Director of Guest Services and Loyalty|4. Saki- Restaurant staff at the Viridis who always remembered my order of Eggs Benedict, hot:)|5. Mayumi- Lobby who had a great suggestion to visit an island her friend's family owns.|6. Georges- Director of Rooms||We connected with the majority of the staff on a personal level and they really got to know us during our 6 night stay. ||I would definitely come back to this hotel on our next...

Summary: The Fukuoka facility is great. The equipment and decor says luxury. The service, however, can be slightly clumsy on occasion. (Forgetting if the item ordered is hot or iced et al) The 18th floor check in (24th floor if you have reserved a Ritz Carlton club level room) is lovely and efficient. The club lounge is not regular bonvoy lounge privileges. More on this at the end…. There’s a great afternoon tea service in the club lounge on the 24th floor. On the same floor as the club, there’s a lovely swimming pool. The club lounge access includes free access to the swimming pool, making it more valuable. The pool was reasonably empty for the span of my stay (only 2-3 other people in the afternoon) and had a gorgeous luxury view of the city. Not all the staff at the spa/gym is up to the club lounge level. The gym staff seemed borrowed from a lesser hotel. Even in the club lounge, a few drinks were botched here and there both in relaying the order and in timing. Not perfect but not a big deal. The service is a bit uneven with certain staff being excellent and others merely good. Again, not a big deal. The club lounge breakfast is great; afternoon tea service can feel boring by the second or third day. Good, solid but not transcendent. Lunch (a full lunch!) is offered as a presentation at the lounge, which is a little unusual. Many lounges in Asia exclude children. Children are permitted in this lounge until 6:30. Ok… so Most of the complaints on here are a little silly. Your Bonvoy Platinum elite benefits and typical upgrades don’t translate. This is a ritz Carlton with a club level. Think of it like a first class lounge at the airport. You don’t get to go in unless you bought the $15,000 flight. Likewise if you want club lounge access, you pay for it. It’s a good club lounge but not the best ever. There are better ones in other cities but if you like the easy and luxury of a ritz Carlton lounge with its full day buffet and dutiful service, then pay for it, because this is probably the best one in Fukuoka.
