Hakuba Taproom 白馬タップルーム — Restaurant in Hakuba

I will start off that this has a pretty decent selection of beers. And if I was reviewing the place just off the beer, it would be higher. But the food left me at odds with the place.

We were a party of three. We all ordered burgers. My wife and I ordered the basic burger, my boy ordered the mexican burger (the one with salsa). What was good about the burgers? The bun, lettuce, and tomatoes! All great ingredients. But the meat itself? Not so much. They are a full size patty of Australian beef, and not a smash patty. But they were cooked well and we were not given the option of medium rare or anything. The patties to me did not have taste besides a bland meat. It was as if they were missing salt or some type of seasoning. I mean my wife needed ketchup to finish the burger.

The fries were ok. Undercooked to me. If I ate there again, I would ask them to be well done.

And the best chicky parm in Hakuba? I think it is the only chicky parm in Hakuba.

Bottom line, I hope my experience was a one off. I can get why it's popular with people. And I would come back for the beer. Just the food...

The service here has been terrible. We had a confirmed booking for our group for Christmas night and turned up half an hour early only to be told they had messed up and hadn’t booked us in. They then told us they had a cancellation so we could come back at 7.30 (our original booking was 6), which we did, and then, only when we rocked up at 7.30, did they tell us that it was a set menu that night for ¥6,000 and most of our group didn’t eat the food on the set menu. Very disappointing experience all around and amplified by the fact that the staff...

We went there based on reviews and photos. Don’t be fooled by the amount of draught taps they have, there were only 3 beers available which was disappointing to say the least. We ordered chilli cheese fries which had very little cheese on. The place was (I suppose predictably) filled with foreigners. What we did enjoy was the snowboarding comp on the screen and they had a kiddies play corner with toys. Depends on what you are looking for but we will be trying other places...
