As New Yorkers who just came from Italy three months ago, we had very low expectations for pizza in Japan. To be fair, we have low expectations of pizza within the United States if it is not from New York. Casco Rosso clearly respects pizza with fresh ingredients, a wood burning brick oven, and great customer service.
The chain pizzerias, like Pizza Hut and Domino’s, have tried so hard to adapt pizza to local taste by adding so many seafood options. There is no shame in liking seafood toppings, after all pizza is a comfort food, but many of the global chain pizzerias do not even offer the basic Margherita. Casco Rosso is offering an authentic Italian pizza experience. If I had to give criticism, the menu does not explore a Japanese take on pizza, which I would trust from this pizzeria that clearly respects the...
Read moreThis right here might be one of the best traditional pizzas in all Japan. Starting from the fact that they have a real FORNO/HORNO/OVEN and the fact that the chef had a Napolitan master shows that they have respect for their product.
The staff is beyond good and friendly, they understand and speak a bit of english but if they cant they’ll go the extra mile to help.
I was only able to caught the name of one of the three people who served me tonight (じん) but the girl waiter and the Pizzero were amazing too.
