We were seeking an affordable and well-located hotel but wanted to avoid resorting to something dry and overly simple. Green Rich Hiroshima turned out to be a great stay. It is located a quick few minutes walk from the Hiroshima Shinkansen Station, and sports comfortable, decently-stylish rooms, even featuring a simple indoor shared hot spring bath to spice things up a little. We traveled in a group of five, one of us spoke passable Japanese, and we divided ourselves in two rooms.||||We were initially given a wrong room type, but upon bringing it to the staff's attention they swiftly and apologetically helped us rectify the problem. We appeared to have stayed during a busy period for the hotel, but the staff never gave us anything but great, courteous service.||||Still, the busy period meant some minor seating issues during the hotel's free breakfast, which was eaten right at the lobby area. The breakfast was a modest meal of bread, japanese rice balls, warm miso soup, eggs and drinks - good enough to eat, but nothing to write home about.||||Standing next to the mighty (and costly!) Sheraton, the hotel may look a little shabby on the outside, but the interior was very clean, with a modern feel that looked quite pleasing. The rooms were on the small side, but not uncomfortably narrow, with in-room wifi, complementary bottled water, small windows you can open for fresh air, and working air conditioning. We had everything we needed and slept comfortably.||||There is a single shared indoor hot spring bath on the ground floor. Usage for each gender is split by time - women being allowed to use it in the afternoon-evening period, and men from nine at night to a couple of hours past midnight. It is smallish and so was slightly crowded on the first night of our stay, but was nice enough and provided a relaxing dip after a long day of sightseeing.||||Location-wise it was good enough, being just a couple minutes walk from the shinkansen exit of Hiroshima train station, from which a direct shuttle bus can also be taken to and fro Hiroshima Airport. There is also a Family Mart convenience store between the station and the hotel. Aside from these conveniences though it wasn't a very interesting neighbourhood, with very little to see and note except a little restaurant serving Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, run by a middle-aged lady who didn't...

Read moreThe two things I like best about the Green Rich Hotel Hiroshima: location and value for money||Situated just a few steps from the Shinkansen Exit of JR Hiroshima Station, the Green Rich Hiroshima is an ideal base for your touristy activities. You can quickly hop on the sightseeing bus from bus stop number 2 which is very near the hotel. It is also easy to go to Miyajima Island by JR San-yo Line. There are also lots of good food choices nearby, specially inside Hiroshima Station. There is also a Family Mart convenience store just outside the hotel.||The room rates are very affordable. We booked 2 rooms, a double and a twin and paid approximately JPY20,000 total. ||The rooms are basic and small, common in most Japanese business hotels, but clean and functional. The beds and pillows are comfortable, too. Room air conditioning and wifi work well. The facilities are likewise basic and the included breakfast is an onigiri pack.||If you are on a budget and looking for a good hotel near Hiroshima Station, Green Rich Hotel is your...
