I usually like staying at Hilton Hotels, but because they didn't have a Hilton in Hiroshima, and Sheraton Hawaii was fantastic, we stayed here.

Price was excellent. location was amazingly good. Service is reasonably good but not fantastic. (I had this as 2 star review initially but once I realised the price at check out was fantastic, I felt 3 star was more fair)

What really put me off this place is the fact that I was told we would have to pay aud$40 to have myself and my daughter use the pool. Whilst I was shocked, I agreed to it as my daughter really wanted to get in the pool.

But they also have a second clause that said no floatation devices allowed. Not even my daughter's arm floats. I confirmed at the spa desk that this is correct, and was told o wouldn't be allowed to have the arm floats in the water.

I went back to the room and spoke to guest services, and was told that this is correct. And even when I said the float is the only thing stopping my daughter from drowning whilst playing in the pool, I was told I would have to "hold her".

It took all night before they finally told me their manager has allowed my daughter to use her arm floats, and that they will charge us only aud$30 to use the pool.

To the management. I told your manager I would love to speak to you In person, as I cannot find a way to contact and give you direct feedback. This was not entertained at the point of this review. PLEASE review your policies regarding pool safety equipment. I understand you not wanting guests to use human sized blown up floats, but it should not mean all floatation devices are banned. Secondly, you are a premium 5 star hotel brand. Charging guests to use the pool is only going to cause brand damage. Inatead I suggest you consider charging every room about 400 yen (aud$5) more at booking. Looking at your past reviews, so many negative reviews would have been minimised this way. Lastly, I felt the reason why guest services had to wait till next morning to offer me acceptable resolution is because your managers and assistant managers are capable, but not given enough authority. If I am correct in saying so, this severely undermines their ability to perform their job.

I wish you the best, but at present will be avoiding Sheraton in Japan, having had only pleasant experiences in other 5 star...

This is an pretty average international Sheraton hotel, based right next to the Shinkansen exit of the JR Hiroshima station. If you take the airport limousine bus from the airport, it drops you off half a block away from the hotel entrance. The location is not central to Hiroshima, but has a great variety of transit options. For example, all trams start at the JR station, and there’s easy access to the Miyajima ferry via JR Rail. The Sightseeing Loop Bus starts in front of the hotel as well. There are also plenty of food options nearby in the JR station, and across the street accessible via a walkway on the 2nd floor.

When I checked in, there were no upgraded rooms available, and I was put in a Deluxe Room. It’s a pretty standard size, with an open bathroom layout. There was a box of Japanese sweets waiting for me in the room, and are given two bottles of water a day. The room felt a bit humid, even with the AC on. Other than that, I had no complaints.

For breakfast, you can have 500 points and eat breakfast in the lounge. If you want to eat in the restaurant downstairs, there will be a 1028 Yen surcharge (about 50% off). I didn’t ask if you could choose breakfast downstairs in lieu of the 500 points though. The Lounge is open all day, and serves a traditional continental breakfast, along with hot items such as scrambled eggs, potatoes, fish, waffle wedges, sausage, and bacon. Soft drinks and wine are available all day. In the evenings, the lounge puts out extremely light appetizers. A bit of a disappointment, really. Beef salad, tater tots, veggies, and such. One day I didn’t even find anything of interest to eat! I expected a heartier selection, especially in Asia!

The gym is pretty standard, and contains all the necessary cardio machines and weights. It’s open 24/7. I passed a neat looking lap pool too. The pool/jacuzzi fee is 1620 Yen/person, and the Sauna is 540 Yen/person. Fitness center is free.

The hotel staff are all friendly, and the ones I dealt with all had a great grasp of English. WiFi speeds are about average. Sometimes it would drop out, and I would have to disconnect and reconnect to get things going again. All in all, this is a pretty solid Sheraton, and I would definitely...

Stayed here for 2 sets of 5 nights. While writing, I’m still on the 2nd set of stay.

Location is excellent for transport as it’s directly at Shinkansen/JR Station, airport limo and even aeon mall + city sightseeing shuttle. However shopping wise they are far from the main shopping belt. But u can always take a street tram or sightsee bus to get around easily.

Room was very large even for their deluxe room for japan context. And for biz trip, room offered a conducive table and space for me to work all day in room. Bed was comfy, bath space was ideal with a decent depth tub. Cleanliness was good.

However As platinum member and lifetime gold, recognition was poor. I thought for 10 nights and I booked fairly early, some nights will have a suite or maybe a corner room. But instead I only got a better view basic room (which half the inventory face the same view). The check in staff didn’t even bother asking me if I wanted points or local amenity nor inform me for not upgrading me.

I do get lounge access. In japan, club benefits doesn’t mean u get free breakfast at the main buffeteria unlike most Asian properties. But that’s fine. Breakfast at lounge is decent western fare. However my favorite Japanese breakfast basics were sorely missed in the club lounge unlike Sheraton grande Tokyo Disneyland.

And the hotel seem not to offer creative menus for club lounge. They rotate among 2 set of pre-dinner cocktail on alternate days. First few days, u can fill your stomach. But longer, u can already know the taste before u go into the lounge. To someone who’s out here for 10 nights, it’s quite painful. Nonetheless, drinks and alcohol selection is high quality.

If I’m coming back to this city again, I’ll defintiely love to stay this hotel again.

If I can Offer some suggestions, I hope the hotel can be more generous to platinum members with an upgraded corner room (even if you hold your suites as sacred assets),

Offer some Japanese menu for breakfast at lounge. And offer more varieties for the evening cocktail dishes. An udon soup or porridge...

I spend a lot of time in Hiroshima and have stayed at many hotels in the city but this was my first stay at the Sherton because it is often the most expensive of all the hotel choices. I often wondered if it was a good value for the cost. There were many nice elements but at the same time there were many awkward moments. The Sherton obviously caters to a very International clientele. For this reason, I was surprised that the check in process was awkward. For example, instead of asking if we would like to arrange a late check out, the receptionist asked when we would like to leave as if there is an option to leave as late as you would like. It was my birthday and the receptionist presented a small bouquet of flowers to my husband and wished him a happy birthday. We reserved a room on an Executive Floor with Lounge access. The room was large by Japanese standards and had a King size bed. The room was clean. There is a Nespresso coffee machine and a small fridge/mini bar that only contained two cans of Pepsi and two cans of Pepsi Zero. Although I read many reviews regarding the small size of the Club Lounge and the limited offerings, I decided to wait and see for myself rather than trust other reviewer's opinions. In this case, I should have trusted the other reviewers. It is the smallest lounge in any hotel I have ever stayed at. The offerings were very limited during what they were calling "Tea Time" and "Happy Hour." It is as if the Sheraton Management Team is not aware that there is a beautiful new Hilton with a nice Club Lounge not far away. Breakfast in the restuarant was good with fresh squeezed orange juice, an omelet station and both Japanese and Western offerings. But at times it was chaotic, items needed to be replenished, and tables needed to be cleaned. The location of the hotel next to the train station is very convenient. Yet after my stay, I had to ask myself was the Sheraton a good value for the money, and I thought probably not. Will the Sheraton become my hotel choice for my frequent visits to Hiroshima? Again, probably not.

We had a good stay at Sheraton Hiroshima. Their location can’t be beat—it’s directly linked to the Hiroshima train station, which makes it easy to walk to. We were given a small bouquet of beautifully arranged flowers in celebration of our anniversary, along with bath salts to use in the room, which we gratefully appreciate. The staff were nice and polite. Our Double Bed Club Lounge room that we were upgraded to as a Platinum Elite member (on their highest 21st floor) was spacious. In fact, because the double beds were pushed together, it was comically wide but I’m not complaining. I really enjoyed the deep bathtub and the interesting layout of the shower room, which has drains right below the bathtub. While I wish the toilet seat was heated, it doesn’t detract from our experience. They do have a humidifier that was already in the room, which was new to me, and definitely much appreciated. The breakfast buffet at Bridges was delicious and varied, with both Japanese/Asian and Western options, and fresh orange juice squeezed through their impressive orange machine. They also have varied juices such as apple, vegetable, tomato, and kale, along with a smoothie. What was a little disappointing was that they do charge a fee to use their pool and oddly enough, their locker room as well. So if you’d like to use their fitness center (which was free), you’d have to change in your room if you’d like to avoid a fee. I’ve never heard of such a policy before in other hotels of a similar standing. I also wish they had onsen available on-site as well. All in all, I’d probably stay here again due to the sheer convenience of its location. There’s nothing like easily retiring to your hotel after a few long day trips.

Why does this location charge for the use of the pool? On the face of it, that is an odd and un-"Marriott" thing to do. I inquired to the hotel, and they only responded by saying that was its policy. No semblance of any reasonsing. THIS IS DECEPTIVE! No where on their website states that there is a fee. No where else is this noted other than when get to the pool level. Marriott - why is this hotel under your brand? The staff was not recpetive and actually rude and confusing. Breakfast service was atrocious - we ordered a la carte. I realize with the buffet things could be a little un-smooth. However, why did one dish get served (COLD!) and then 20 MINUTES LATER the other dish was served - and ordered at the same time? I could not actually eat breakfast with my husband. The staff was not helpful - when asked, they just said they were sorry but nothing...no information about when, why, etc. No offer for any way to address our dissatisfaction and dissapointment with the hotel upon check in. And, when we checked in, we were rudely told that no upgrade was possible. I understand full/cannot accommodate, but the response from the front desk when asked it was available was unacceptably rude. Later when this also was pointed out to the hotel they were dismissive. Marriot - why do you not fix this hotel? When discuss issues with the hotel THEY DO NOT ADDRESS ANYTHING!!!! This hotel's response has turned me off to your brand and will be taking my elite status elsewhere if you do not address adequately. This hotel has TERRIBLE SERVICE and no one should stay here. PLUS - IT IS DECEPTIVE IN THEIR ADVERTISING!!! LOOK AT THE WEBSITE - NOTHING TO INDICATE THE POOL HAS A RIDICULOUS CHARGE.
