recently had the absolute pleasure of dining, and I can confidently say it was the most extraordinary culinary experience I've ever had in Japan. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive staff set the stage for something truly special. The menu was a masterful showcase of Japanese cuisine, and every dish we tried was a revelation. The oysters were an absolute standout—plump, fresh, and bursting with the briny essence of the sea, perfectly complemented by a delicate sauce that elevated their natural flavor. The tempura was nothing short of perfection: crispy, golden, and impossibly light, with each piece showcasing the chef’s skill in balancing texture and taste. The sashimi was a work of art—each slice of fish was so fresh it practically melted in my mouth, with vibrant flavors that spoke to the impeccable quality of the ingredients. Then came the beef tongue, tender and expertly prepared, with a rich, savory depth that left me speechless. The octopus was equally phenomenal, cooked to perfection with a delightful chew and a burst of umami that lingered on the palate. Every dish was presented with such care and precision, it felt like a love letter to Japanese culinary tradition. The service was flawless—attentive without being intrusive, with staff who clearly take pride in sharing their craft. The atmosphere was cozy yet refined, making it the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal. Isn't ’t just a restaurant; it’s a masterclass in flavor, technique, and hospitality. If you’re looking for the best Japanese food in Japan, this is the place to go. I’m already counting down the days until...
Read moreWe didn’t plan to come here but boy are we glad we did.
First off as a few people have complained about in 1 star reviews - there is a small table fee which comes with an appetiser. The waiter was very clear about this before we ordered and explained why it was there, it wasn’t a surprise at the end. We’ve had this in so many Japanese places and expect it, honestly this was the first place to openly call it out.
Everything was fantastic. The oysters are huge, fresh and perfectly seasoned.
Try the plum and wasabi - it’s a steak tartare textured paste which balanced the acidity of purple plums with the wasabi perfectly.
The pork salad is a good combo of hot and cold without being overly dressed and the steak… the attention that chef pays to steak is amazing. Grilled, rested, re grilled to char, rested again. It is honestly a pleasure to watch the chefs here work. They barely talk, just methodically pass out dish after dish.
We also ordered a sashimi platter which had an amazing variety of fish, 7 different options. All high grade and with fresh wasabi that wasn’t too hot.
Honestly the main element of surprise here is that the lead chef looks to be about 22. If that’s what he’s doing now I can’t want to come back in a decade.
English menu provided without question, just be aware this is a local place. Maybe 14 seats overall and “rustic” - it’s crammed into a tiny building with a galley style feel. Don’t expect high dining - the TV is on, there are locals but the...
Read moreWe arrived and asked for a table for 7. They took us to the table and we order our food and drinks. Around half an hour after they come and say that the table was reserved for a different party of 7. They never asked us for any name or if we had a reservation. They just assumed we were the ones who booked the table. They made us leave and charged us for the drinks. We had alcoholic drinks that we were supposed to have with our food and that we will not going to finish with our empty stomachs. I fought to have mine not charged but some others drank it in one sip just to not letting it go to waste. They claimed they didn't understand English when one of the waiters was talking to us in English... Horrible customer service!! You made the mistake, you should apologize, assume the cost and DO NOT charge your customers after you...
