Most snobby rich shallow restaurant I have ever visited. Ever.
They told me they had nothing on the main menu because they were transitioning and prepping for dinner. I understood and ordered aperitif which was literally about 2000 yen in itself.
I came here after people raving about gluten free menu and so I thought I give it a try.
Mind you it's cold outside so I go with ajillo, which is famous Spanish soup dish that often comes with bread and oil fragrant rich soup filled with shrimps.
Well it was most saddest and dangerous dish I've ever had in my life.
The whole plate is tiny and boiling hot. They placed it in small container where if I accidentally tilt the dish, I would get third degree burn.
Then they gave me giant white plate for me to put my leftover shrimp cartilage even though there were only 3 real shrimp floating in the soup. The other ones are cartilage of the shrimps, and tiny shrimps from some soup stock.
I was basically drinking the oil laddened soup with no gluten free bread.
Then the waitress came back asking if I wanted happy hour drink. Who orders happy hour drink at 14:00? Well I guess only rich people would which they probably only cater here.
Probably the only time I got pissed at the plate I received besides the time I ordered japanese ramen in Mexico and sushi in Austria (which both were just awful). Had 3 sip of the soup, got pissed, paid and left.
Afterward I sent photo to my Spanish friend and they just laughed at the dish saying it looked pretty sad. Yeah it was pretty sad with no love or care into the dish which it literally represents warmth in their culture. Below is image.
Search up ajillo and count how many actual sized shrimps are in there and it would be more than what you would find...
Read moreWe stayed in THE KNOT HIROSHIMA that is located on the peace blvd and MORE THAN HIROSHIMA is at 1st floor of the hotel. Oh my gosh.. I was brown away by their stunning service! The food were of course amazing but more than that, the lively, fun atmosphere and the friendliest stuff got us so excited to spend more time. They have 2 different kinds of morning set. The one has a sausage, baked ham, the egg which you can choose from sunny side up, spanish omelette and scrambled egg. The other one was a massive salad with no meat so for those who are vegan, this is a great option to have from the first in the morning! We stayed for 2 nights so I got to try both more than plate and salad plate and I really liked the salad plate a lot:) The coffee is from Facon’s coffee in Tokyo. Oh they also served us the home made focaccia with the Tokyo maple butte and it was sooo good! Because our morning experience was amazing so we had to come back and experience dinner at the last night Lol
We really appreciate that we had such a great morning to start off our day at More Than Hiroshima. There were less people in the morning so we could fully relax at the terrace outside which I can easily imagine this terrace seats would be packed at all time once the weather gets warm🤩 CAN’T WAIT TO COME BACK and looking forward to staying the knot...
Read moreBeen here while we stayed in the Hotel, but didn't book breakfast but went here anyway on the first morning. We've been surprised about the small menu, and that nearly 2 dishes, as the one is only a different type of egg, but always meat aside, no veg. or even fish.... Alas, we booked two times, but for my wife without meat (spoiler: there was NO price decrease from that massive price tag).
Long story short: what you get as breakfast for a staggering 2900¥!!! is an absolute outrageousness ... A small portion of egg of choice (both scrambled where tastelss), some chickpeas/,beans in a limp sauce and some little piece of bacon. Yes, sure, you get a very small (but ok) salad aside, and grab some juice and soup (also tasteless) from the "buffet" (which is basically 3m of the bar). The only "highlight" was the bread, which is basically a big white Italian bread, but at least freshly baked with some olive oil and the only thing that filled up.
Not to get it wrong: tastewise it's not the worst hotel breakfast we've ever had (on Japan it was) but how on earth they think this is worth 2900¥????? Hot drinks weren't even included!!! Sorry, but that's not acceptable and price-performance-wise by far the worst breakfast we've EVER had and you're far better of looking for breakfast around the hotel for much less or at least...
