海辺のBed&Breakfast GOOD MORNING ZAIMOKUZA — Restaurant in Kamakura

my husband and I took a trip to Tokyo and decided to stay one night in Kamakura. we chose this place because of the location and the pictures we saw, and the price was in our budget. the place we were staying in before Good Morning Zaimokuza was disappointing, so this place was a breath of fresh air!

the location can't be beat. it's not in the central city, but it's not a long walk to all the shops. there is a great ramen restaurant nearby, and it's right across from the beach. it's also a close walk to Wadazuka station, which was handy for us since we went to Enoshima on our second day.

the service was great - all the staff were very friendly and helpful, and allowed us to drop off our bags early, several hours before our check-in time. they even trusted us enough to give us our key at that time, even though the room was not ready yet.

perhaps the best part of the facility was the room itself - it's a very clever setup, with a large futon on the top level and a smaller futon underneath, with a TV. the top level has a window with a view of the beach. the bed was comfortable (compared to our capsule hotel we stayed in previously!) and the whole hotel was very clean and well-maintained, including the toilet, shower, and laundry room. oh yes, free laundry is included! we desperately needed to do laundry, so the free laundry facility was a great feature. no need to bring your own laundry detergent either, it's also free to use. there were many different soaps, lotions, and oils to choose from as well in the shower.

the free breakfast was also very good. the only downside was that coffee was not provided freely - the cost is 600 yen. I'm sure it's good coffee, but I didn't have any.

overall, GOOD MORNING ZAIMOKUZA is a great place to stay for the price that you pay. it's clean, conveniently located, and has great friendly service. I wanted to leave a review because the current rating is 4.0 stars, but I think it deserves a higher rating than that. I think there are only four rooms, so hopefully it doesn't become too popular - we will want to stay here again if we come back...

We were silly enough to try to spend a few nights in Kamakura going into a festival weekend and ended up booking a place without much choice. The lady who ran the show was lovely and nice, but that's were to good stuff stops (and indeed is the only reason i didn't rate 1 star). The place is falling apart. There were literally thumb tacks used to put cheesy pictures on the wall. The sliding door on our room didn't slide. Rooms are tiny (the pictures online are very flattering) and scant: though that is the Japanese way for traditional. There was what looked like an ex-kitchen on the sleeping room floor but not even a kettle to make a cup of tea! Even for those who planned enough to bring their own tea-bags. Communal shower and toilet: sure that was advertising, but having to pay to rent a towel at a place that cost $200 a night!!! give me a break! To boot, the place is well clear of the train station and most tourist stuff you'd want to visit.||Lovely lady, so pop by and say hello, but definitely...
