This is definitely THE BEST CURRY that I have ever had in my life. One more reason to visit Kamakura. As a tourist when we walk by and see the line, we have no idea what it is. We then figured out it was curry. Due to curiosity and my love for curry, we joined the wait line and waited for an hour (yea it’s kinda long ngl) to get in. We ordered a total of 2 beef and 1 scallops curry. The wait is worth it once I took my first bite. Even though there’s no actual meat in it, but the sauce consists sweet, spicy, and the flavor of beef (or scallop that we ordered) all in one. There will be four side dishes (I’m not completely sure what they r though sorry) served aside for Free as u can see in the pictures, and it matched perfectly with the curry. Also, u can select the amount of rice when u ordered so don’t be afraid it won't be enough. Lastly, the price is so cheap. We went as a party of 3 and spend for a total of around 2700 ish, and i think that’s also one of the main reasons why the line is still long even after dining time. All in all, I will definitely come again not only for Kamakura’s attractions, but this curry shop that I considered...
Read moreA nice Japanese curry restaurant on a quiet lane, serving smoother versions of the curries than most restaurants of that cuisine (essentially, upscale curry flavors at bargain prices). Each curry has its own district flavor, rather than only changing the toppings. The beef curry is especially interesting with a deeply satisfying beef flavor. The chicken is good for a slight lighter curry (but still quite hearty). The mushroom is not bad, but can be lacking a bit in meat flavor of that is what you are seeking, and the pork is overshadowed by the excellent beef. Or for a change, try the cheese version. The are essentially no options or sides, but the four free accompaniments on the table (3 nicely pickled vegetables and a sweet raisin chutney) add culinary interest. And try the apricot wine on the rocks, which comes with a while fruit (caution, the fruit seems to have been soaked in high proof alcohol). Also, the regular rice serving, at 550 grams, is huge; the only other rice option is to downsize...
Read moreAmazingly delicious Japanese curry with amazingly affordable price with amazing amount of rice. If you are used to the typical Japanese dish size, go for 'small'. Seriously. The amount of rice is HUGE despite the price. Does not accept credit cards. Very popular so there is usually a queue, try to go during off peak hours or off season. There is a table for 6 in there so it's good for families too. Most of it are 4 seaters. Menu shown in picture attached~
